With AAU winding down, many Kentucky teams were out on the road for the last time this past weekend. Here’s a look at the weekend results and top performers.
Kentucky Select 17u struggled to an 0-4 record at the Bearcat Classic. Jacob DeereJacobDeere6'6" | PFCooper | 2021KY had a solid weekend, averaging a double-double. Grant ProfittGrantProfitt6'0" | PGScott | 2021StateKY led the Select group all weekend while doing a little bit of everything and excelling as a rebounder from the guard spot.
Pride Athletics went 2-2 at the Bearcat Classic. Zion ThomasZionThomas6'1" | SGEast Jessamine | 2021StateKY of East Jessamine was solid all weekend long. 2022 Andrew Floyd of Raceland had a solid weekend averaging 7 points and 8 assists per game all weekend. Pride also got solid contributions from Khamari McMullen, DeAjuan SteppDeAjuanStepp6'5" | SFWest Jessamine | 2021StateKY and Dev Johnson.
The Kentucky Defenders went 1-2 at the Bearcat Classic. Holy Cross’ Blake RobinsonBlakeRobinson6'2" | SFHoly Cross (Covington) | 2021StateKY averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds per game while Lloyd Memorial’s Zaire MonroeZaireMonroe6'1" | SFLloyd Memorial | 2021StateKY had 14 points and 8 rebounds and Walton-Verona’s Connor Davis had a good all around weekend.
The Nky Wizards went 1-3 at the Bearcat Classic. Jeremiah Israel averaged 16 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists while Kyle Huelsman averaged 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
Kentucky Select went 2-2 at the Bearcat Classic. Ryan Davis was efficient on offense and rebounded the ball at a high level. Garrett Vogelpohl averaged a double-double for the weekend as he posted averages of 12 points and 11 rebounds per game.
Kentucky Future Elite went 6-0 and won the Bearcat Classic. Tyson BarrettTysonBarrett6'6" | SFFrederick Douglass | 2022StateKY had games of 17 and 25. Jaden Green scored 30 in the semifinals while Tim HallTimHall6'6" | PFPaul Laurence Dunbar | 2022StateKY added 19. In the championship game, Kanye HendersonKanyeHenderson6'2" | SGHenry Clay | 2022StateKY scored 27 and Luke ImfeldLukeImfeld6'1" | SGBoyle County | 2022StateKY chipped in 16.
Kentucky Select went 2-2 at the Bearcat Classic. Philip Bierley was effective on both ends of the court and averaged a double-double for the weekend. Guard Eli JohnsonEliJohnson6'0" | PGMenifee County | 2023StateKY shot the ball well all weekend, especially from deep.
Quinn Anvils went 5-1 and won the Silver Bracket at the Bearcat Classic. Zamarion McCown, Greg Cole, Malachai Hamilton, Kirk Lemons and Martin Keltee all had very strong weekends for the Anvils squad.
Kentucky Future Elite went 4-2 on the weekend, losing the Silver title to the Anvils. Ethan Cooper went for 33 in one game and 2024 Zander Carter played up all weekend and thrived, including a 29 point game.
The Kentucky Defenders didn’t submit a record but were led in scoring by Terrel Henry from Mason County. Newport’s Mykel King led the team in assists and Aiden Jones of Covington Catholic had a 10 point/8 rebound game.
The Ky Kings won the Midwest Circuit, beating a very talented Louisville Magic squad in the title game. They finished the league 11-1 after a 4-0 weekend.
