Here are some of the top 16U Kansas wings from The Finale (in alphabetical order and with club and high school listed):
Jaxon Boothe, B2B Elite 16U, Maize:
Boothe put on one of the best shooting displays at the tournament. He can shoot from deep, and moves all over the court to find chances. He is a good ball handler and facilitator, and his thick, powerful build gives him a physical advantage. He is a heady and active defender who gets his hands on a lot of balls.
Ty Henry Ty Henry 6'3" | SG Seaman | 2022 State KS , Kansas Hoggs 16U, Seaman:
At 6-foot-3, Henry has the type of size that makes him a handful at guard, but he can also be considered a wing. The Kansas Hoggs were short on players last weekend and played a lot of guards at the same time. Henry can handle the ball from end to end, penetrating to dish or score. He is a willing defender and rebounder, with long arms and great hands. He is a good facilitator, but he’s taken it upon himself to try to create his own shots.
Quincey Kidd, KC United 16U, Washburn Rural:
Kidd is building on a solid sophomore year for one of the top varsity programs in the state. He is a smooth 6-foot-2 guard/wing with good ball handling skills and a nice outside shot. He can pull down a rebound and ignite the break himself, pushing the ball in traffic and keeping his head up for open teammates. He is a pesky defender and a team-first facilitator.
Brayden Meseke, SSA Black 16U, Wabaunsee:
Meseke was a first-team Mid-East League player as a sophomore and showed he could score points in bunches. He’s doing more than just score for his talented club team. He crashes the boards and plays tough defense. He’s thick and muscular and tough. At 6-foot-1 he can play nearly every spot on the floor and has a very diverse skill set.
Sam Somerhalder Sam Somerhalder 6'7" | SF St. James Academy | 2022 State KS , Team KC Derrick 16U, St. James Academy:
Talk about versatile. At 6-foot-7, there’s really nothing on the court that Somerhalder can’t do well. He can be patient, letting opportunities come, but when he decides to drive to the hole, he’s got a variety of moves and the length to get shots off. He can get to the rim or kick out to a teammate. With his height, he can get a shot off almost anytime, and he has nice touch. He also is an effective rebounder and defender because his height is so troublesome to smaller guards and wings.
Wyatt Stover, B2B Elite 16U, Maize:
The 6-foot-3 Stover is a versatile complement to the lightning-quick collection of guards on B2B Elite. He can run, never stops hustling, and can pull up for a jumper or take the ball to the hole on the fast break. He is strong on the glass and is good at following up misses in transition. He has a nice mid-range shot and can shoot from distance.
