We covered Minnesota live, but don’t fear Illinois teams that were in Kansas City we got you covered too! All this week we are rolling out our Film Room evaluations from the event! Here is The Finale Film Room: Chicago Demons 17U!
What an impressive outing for the Chicago Demons 17U squad as we saw them against a stacked Gateway squad. The Demons blitzed them from the beginning of the game with outstanding defense and then held on in the second half despite Gateway’s press to win 58-41. Let’s dive into the players.
Reggie Ward Reggie Ward 6'5" | PF Curie | 2021 State IL (Curie – 2021)
Ward was excellent in this contest. He is expected to be a major piece for Curie this season as a versatile combo forward. The 6’6” Ward put it on the deck multiple times setting up his mid-range jump shot. He was outstanding working out of the high-post knocking down shots and making sound decisions as a passer. Also stretched it out to three on one occasion. Was fouled around the hoop a couple times and overall looked lighter on his feet. Great outing for Ward!
Nickolasss Owens Nickolasss Owens 6'3" | SG IL (Curie – 2021)
Owens will be running the show again this season for Curie. He didn’t score a ton in this one, but was really good at using his shifty handles to break down the defense both in the half court and against the press. Crisp passer that makes good reads. Did knock down a pull up three as well as running into a mid-range shot.
Jabari Sawyer (DePaul Prep – 2021)
Sawyer is a 5’10” point guard that plays bigger with his long arms. Was most effective as a scorer in transition running the floor hard where he was rewarded with buckets. High activity level on both ends. Hit a three from the corner showing solid mechanics.
Elijah Perkins (Curie – 2020)
The unsigned senior is a small point guard that threw a long outlet on the money along with hitting a pair of deep threes.
Mike Hill (Hyde Park – 2021)
This 5’11” Hyde Park product is a small guard that brings athleticism to the table. Good rebounder and solid defender.
Jonathan Oden (Legal Prep – 2020)
Oden had a strong senior year and he continues to do what he is best at. Shot blocking presence at 6’8” that swatted multiple in this game. Had a couple quick post moves inside for scores and got fouled in the paint. He is headed to Iowa Lakes Community College this fall.
