We covered Minnesota live, but don’t fear Illinois teams that were in Kansas City we got you covered too! All this week we are rolling out our Film Room evaluations from the event! Here is The Finale Film Room: Champaign Heat 16U!
Jimmy Nixon Jimmy Nixon 6'3" | PG Urbana | 2022 State IL (St. Thomas More – 2022)
Nixon is a 6’3” point guard with excellent vision in the half court. Made several great dishes including in the pick/roll, crisp passes to shooters, and finding teammates on the move. Advanced passing feel with size at the lead guard spot. Didn’t score a ton hitting a three. Showed flashes defensively.
David Hubbard David Hubbard 6'4" | SG Champaign Centennial | 2022 State IL (St. Thomas More – 2022)
Hubbard stands at 6’4” with natural scoring ability. He had an explosive rip through that he took to the hoop for an and-1. Knocked down multiple threes. Finished as the roller in the pick/roll. Defensively he is a sound perimeter defender with active hands and moves his feet. Blocked a shot at the rim as a help defender.
Byron Carlo (Home School – 2022)
Probably the best outing we have seen from this 5’10” point guard this summer. The Home School point guard had his floater game on point! He hit runner after runner winning off the dribble. Solid shooter from three as well knocking down a pair.
Sam Bradbury Sam Bradbury 6'8" | C Mattoon | 2022 State IL (Mattoon – 2022)
The 6’8” five man from Mattoon has a chance to be a major sleeper in the rising junior class. Wide bodied center is a high level rebounder on both ends of the floor. Boxes out and clears space with his size. Showed some nimble footwork on a pick/roll getting a bucket. Not the highest scoring game we have seen out of him, but his board work was very impactful.
Edward Alexander (Springfield Southeast – 2022)
Alexander is a 6’0” two guard with a strong body and a junk yard dog mentality. Love the energy he plays with getting on the glass for second chance opportunities, finishing on dump offs, and always being in the right place to make a play in the paint.
Jaydin Dunlap (Bolingbrook – 2022)
At 6’1” Dunlap is about to make an impression this season for Bolingbrook. Slender guard is a force in transition with his speed pushing the pace and getting to the rim. Hit a three from the corner as well. Can play both on and off the ball.
