With the unofficial end of the AAU season we take a look at standouts as we prepare to enter that mini Fall Ball Session.
2021 Standouts
6’7 Jake Wahlin Jake Wahlin 6'8" | SF Timpview | 2021 State #150 Nation UT (Utah Prospects/Timpview)
Jake is 3 at the next and he has really excelled this summer against some of the best players in the country. With recent offers from San Diego State and Arizona State be on the look out for more big time offers to surface as well. Jake has been able to shine on both ends of the floor with his ability to really handle the ball and break players down. and defend multiple positions. He is multi-dimensional and HM Division I coaches have taken notice.
6’9 Carter Welling Carter Welling 6'10" | PF Corner Canyon | 2021 State UT (Salt Lake Rebels/Corner Canyon)
While Carter has a solid game game it is really impressive to see him knock down free-throws because he will rack up points as he will get to the free-throw-line a lot his senior year. Carter has been courted and offered by some schools that can really fit his style of play at the D1 level. He has a big body and he looks great in the pick n’ roll.
6’9 Jaden Brownell Jaden Brownell 6'8" | SF Alta | 2021 State UT (Utah Premier/Alta)
Jaden is a stretch 4 that runs the wings well. he can really open up the paint because he requires his defender to really come out and defend. He is almost automatic on either block to add to his excellent mid-range game. Jaden is another prospect that has received a Division 1 offer. Look for him to shine in region play as he will play against some solid competition.
6’8 Cameron Brimhall Cameron Brimhall 6'8" | PF Lone Peak | 2021 State UT (Jimmer Elite/Lone Peak)
Cameron is one of those silently trending up prospect and another solid SF Division 1 prospect that holds an offer. Cameron does a lot of his damage 15 feet and in but can step out and hurt you from the outside as well. Cameron is a strong rebounder that plays in region that has some of the best bigs in the state.
6’7 Ethan Potter Ethan Potter 6'8" | SF Layton | 2021 State #194 Nation UT (Utah Prospects/Layton)
With a 6’11 wingspan it is no surprise that Ethan can play against taller competition at both ends of the floor. The kid can fly up and down the floor while switching ends. Ethan has also developed his 15 feet and out game which can really open up his game even more. Holds multiple Division 1 offers.
6’9 Hunter Phillips Hunter Phillips 6'9" | C Westlake | 2021 State UT (Impact/Westlake)
Hunter has put on some muscle this off-season which will help him really bang with players down low. He is solid on both blocks and his raw talent can really take-off. Could be a solid pick-up for a school that is looking for a player that can rebound and run the floor. Hunter can also rim protect with the best of them in the state.
6’11 Preston Squire Preston Squire 6'11" | PF Layton | 2021 State UT (Cache Valley Elite/Layton)
Preston is a prospect that has that next level game that can really turn heads. With his ability to shoot from the outside as a true stretch big Preston holds an offer from Virginia Tech. Preston could really have a major impact next season as he is one of the biggest kids in the state playing for a traditional Utah high school.
6’8 Dallin Grant Dallin Grant 6'8" | SF Cedar City | 2021 State #212 Nation UT (Utah Prospects/Cedar)
Dallin has started developing that mini hook along with his ball handling and outside shooting. With a handful of Division 1 offers Dallin is a player that can also be used all over the floor from the 3 and 4 positions. On his high school team he can sloe be really effective at the 5.
