Young and older talent were on hand for the Saturday and Sunday and slate.
Here is a look at the top standouts from the 2023-2024 classes.
Sean Stewart Sean Stewart 6'8" | PF Montverde | 2023 State #11 Nation FL | E1T1
Stewart continued his strong summer on Sunday in a win over SOH Elite. The 6-7 E1T1 wing and his team played up and didn’t blink an eye. He is really coming into his own as a finisher. Transferring from Lake Highland Prep to Windermere earlier this summer, Stewart holds offers from USF and Stetson. He is long, athletic and plays a fluid game. Basketball runs in his veins with his dad Michael Stewart playing in the NBA and his older brother Miles Stewart playing at Lake Highland Prep. His potential is endless.
Scotty Middleton Scotty Middleton 6'7" | SF Sunrise Christian | 2023 #50 Nation KS & Marcus Allen | LAB Basketball
A pair of young Miami prospects were flat out good in a win over SOH Elite on Saturday. 2023 forward Middleton is a highly gifted shooter with nice length. He plays with a lot of confidence and pure speed. Edward Waters jumped in early with an offer last July. As for the 6-5 Allen, the 2024 Norland guard is already really talented. He attacks with strength, gets going on inside feeds and can handle the rock as well.
Camerin James Camerin James 6'5" | CG Leesburg | 2023 State FL & Marvel Allen Marvel Allen 6'4" | SG Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian | 2023 State #46 Nation FL | E1T1
The 2023 E1T1 group is very special. There are endless names to simply look at fast forward in time and see where they’ll end up. On top of Stewart (mentioned above), James and Allen played so hard on Sunday in a victory over Judah Nation 16U 73-71. James is maturing at the perfect time and with 19 points, his jumper is coming along and his all-around athleticism is on full display. Allen has all the tools already as a true playmaking point guard and his burst and IQ helped him to 13 points in this game. He has early offers from Virginia Tech and USF.
Iverson Yacinthe Iverson Yacinthe 6'3" | PF Somerset Academy | 2023 FL & PJ Paulk PJ Paulk 6'3" | CG Northwestern | 2023 State FL | SOH Elite
SOH Elite battled in a loss to LAB Basketball on Saturday. The combination of Yacinthe and Paul added 24 points together. Yacinthe is a very good guard/wing who likes to mix it up on both ends of the floor. He is going to be a major factor for Somerset Academy this season. As for Paulk, the Miami Northwestern guard plays endlessly hard. He attacks the boards on both ends, gets inside for finishes and tip-backs and plays just like the two-sport athlete (football) that he is.
Kyle Behrle/ Joseph Poventud Joseph Poventud 6'3" | CG Freedom | 2023 FL | Florida Suns Blue
On Saturday, the Florida Suns Blue clipped SOH Elite 53-50 and Behrle and Poventud led the charge. Behrle is a high IQ player who really knows the right areas to be on the floor to succeed. The West Orange guard is a high-end shooter and a steady presence. Poventud, a Dr. Phillips guard/forward is a hard nosed rebounder and slasher who put up 20 points in that game. Both players simply do the right things on the floor.
Other names to know:
Nathanial Shaw | 6-3 | Advanced Athletics
Playing up in the 16U division, Shaw was very poised the whole way through for Advanced Athletics. He was really good down low finishing in a variety of ways for in a loss to Team Speights. He is headed to Timber Creek this fall and should get plenty of minutes.
Skyler Scull Skyler Scull 5'10" | PG Northside Christian | 2023 State FL | 5-8 | Pinellas Hoops Supreme
Scull was hard to contain on Saturday afternoon. He recorded a team-best 21 points for Pinellas Hoops Supreme in a win over the Florida Suns. A poised shooter and super quick guard, Scull is a riser at Northside Christian.
Matthew Barcia | 6-1 | Triple Double Tarheels
This is a very energetic player right here. Barcia was active on both ends of the floor all weekend long for the Triple Double Tarheels. A fighter on the boards, he has nice size already and he can finish at the cup hard. He will suit up for St. Andrew’s this season.
Matt Andreopoulos | 5-11 | SOH Elite
Andreopoulos is a high energy player. He scored 19 points in a victory over Miami Dynasty on Saturday for SOH Elite. He takes chances inside and always fights on the offensive glass. He is a young player to monitor at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Trey Murray & Jordan Massie | Heart N’ Hustle Elite
A pair of 2024 Tampa area guards Murray and Massie did all they could in a loss to the Triple Double Tarheels on Saturday. Murray (Wesley Chapel) recorded 26 points and was getting inside all game long. Massie (Land O’ Lakes) displayed a steady jumper on the way to an 11-point game.
Justin Kruszewski Justin Kruszewski 5'11" | SG East Lake | 2023 State FL & Maddox Wahr | XFE
XFE 16U finished undefeated and took home a tournament championship. East Lake duo Kruszewski and Wahr were the high scorers for this group. Kruszewski, a 2023 5-10 guard was the top producer as he shot it well and got to the rim with his speed and emerging confidence. Maddox Wahr, a 2022 5-7 guard is a dangerous 3-point shooter following in the footsteps of his older brother (2020 graduate Xavier Wahr). Maddox transferred from Clearwater to East Lake this summer and it is certainly not smart to leave him open ever.
