With 50 teams participating in the entire Event I was mainly focused on the Grit Bracket of the event. Here are my All-Grit Bracket 2nd Team. This second group is not one to look over either and would be a problem to handle if all were on the same team.
Alex Littlejohn 6’5” SG | 2021 | Kansas Pray N Play
Alex was very consistent with shooting the ball from deep. He doesn’t just shoot it from the high school line he was knocking it down from behind the NBA trey ball line touching nothing but the bottom of the net. He also is a good on-ball defender and sat on a couple of opponents not giving up anything. Has good lateral movement and moves well without the ball in his hands. He was a tough assignment as well when he was taking opponents from the wing to the basket. Coaches looking for a shooter, put him on the radar.
Peter Mckey 6’2” CG | 2021 | Houston Raptors Benjamin
Peter is a tough guard that gets it done on the court on both sides of the ball. He can take his opponent off the dribble or set them up by rocking them to create enough space to get his jump-shot off. Guards 94 feet and is a solid passer as well. He played a major role in getting his squad to the title game. College coaches have been keeping tabs on this prospects.
A.J. Ferguson 6’5” SG | 2021 | Houston Raptors Benjamin
AJ could’ve easily been mentioned as a first team selection for the Grit Bracket. Long and athletic and gives you flashes of I can take over the game scoring but then hits his opponent with his ability to get his teammates going as well. Active defender on the perimeter and a great rebounder as well for his position. His play was crucial in every game for his squad. Tough prospect that is starting to get the looks.
Chris Johnson Chris Johnson 6'6" | CG Montverde Academy | 2023 State #27 Nation FL 6’3” SG | 2023 | TJ Ford
Chris is the youngest out of the bunch that was playing on the 17U level and was still giving guy problems. He is a downhill guard that finishes well through contact. Has the ability to play above the rim and is a trash talking tough minded prospect.
Kylan Green 5’10” PG | 2021 | Team Nation
Was able to impose his will in the early morning game, and scored on all levels of the court. His ability to take his man off the dribble and score the ball eventually opened up the floor and he was serving out dishes to his teammates and they were eating them up giving him assists after assists. Smart lead guard that plays with pace and patience as well. He is a solid defender as well and caused multiple 5 second counts and was always in the help side defensively with great recover to get on his man.
Shakiru Odunewu 6’9” PF | 2021 | Team F.O.E. Elite [as seen in the picture]
Shak [SHAQ] was dominate on the blocks both high and low. He runs the floor exceptionally well and is very active on the glass. He was a walking double-double for his team. Plays with a ton of energy and took some charges. Strong hands and a nice touch around the rim. He also plays above the rim every chance he gets. On one possession he pulled down a board like “Grand-mama” and went back up to throw it down with force on a one handed jam.
