104 players from Arizona, California, New Mexico and Michigan battled it out. 12 teams with 8-9 players each.
Each team played 4 games with a possible All-Star game. The All-Star games lived up to the hype with many coaches walking away impressed with what they saw and 6 basketball offers were given out so far.
We will go back and look at each teams players.
Here is Team Utah:
Top-20 game:
Jamison Kay Jamison Kay 6'5" | SF Gila Ridge | 2021 State AZ (Gila Ridge)
-A bigger lead guard or point forward type that makes plays for others. He has deep shooting range beyond the 3pt line and keeps his dribble alive versus tough pressure using a tight handle. He is an impressive advanced passer and makes tough shots in traffic with nice body control. He rebounds well and is a multi-positional defender. He proved to be a shot maker vs some of the best players at the camp.
Non-senior All-Star game:
Jordan Stevens Jordan Stevens 6'2" | SF Gila Ridge | 2022 State AZ (Gila Ridge)
-A tough wing player who can shoot it. He takes charges, rebounds well in and out of his area and can score it in the lane using a decent handle. His skill has improved in the last year and he will be a tough duo with Kay in the always difficult 5A Northwest Region.
Others:
Jake Schleifer Jake Schleifer 6'7" | PF Trivium Prep | 2021 State AZ (Trivium Prep)
-I saw him play in March in the 2A state finals and now again last week. He showed more skills then I knew he had. He can handle the ball better and has deeper range to the 3pt line. He has good activity to keep plays alive and can find teammates in traffic. His ability to create his own shot and rebound the ball will make him one of the top 2A players next HS season. He may have been an all-star snub.
Ryan Vischer Ryan Vischer 6'11" | C Phhoenix Prep | 2023 State AZ (Paradise Valley)
-A long and lean true post player moves fluidly around the court. He can dunk the ball easily and can score it near the rim. He sets strong picks and showed once he is in position, he is a strong two-handed rebounder and rim protector. He can get stronger moving forward.
Joseph Pompeo Joseph Pompeo 6'0" | PG Paradise Valley | 2022 State AZ (Paradise Valley)
-He is a skilled guard with some nice quicks. He can make good reads to teammates and advance passes to running cutters. He is best off the catch from the 3pt line and can handle ball pressure. He can maneuver his way to get into the lane with his handle.
Peyton Smith Peyton Smith 6'1" | SF Gila Ridge | 2022 State AZ (Gila Ridge)
-Smith showed the ability to hit shots from the perimeter. He has an unorthodox release but it goes down from mid to the 3pt line. He has a stronger frame and can rebound the ball. He made some nice passes in traffic on the two days and he is a nice compliment to Kay and Stevens.
McCoy Kelly McCoy Kelly 5'11" | CG American Leadership Academy-Queen Creek | 2022 State AZ (ALA-QC)
-A true combo guard who can score it and make plays. He has a pretty looking shooting stroke from the 3pt line that he gets off quickly. He doesn’t need much space or time and it leaves his hand in a blink of an eye. He makes smart reads on the court and he should be their floor spacer during the HS season.
Andrew Moss Andrew Moss 5'10" | PG American Leadership Academy-Queen Creek | 2022 State AZ (ALA-QC)
-A pure PG who can score it in the lane. He has improved his deep ball in the last year but he is best at using his handle and strength to get into the lane and make a play for a teammate. He also is a top-notch on-ball defender using his lateral quickness, toughness and strength.
Finn Perry Finn Perry 5'11" | PG American Leadership Academy-Queen Creek | 2022 State AZ (ALA-QC)
-Another pure PG for the Patriots. He has a sturdy frame and loves getting downhill. He uses the floater well and makes layups with his thicker build. He has good court vision and he directs traffic to set the table. He can make a catch-3 and is a good teammate giving up a good shot for a great one. He also was hustling in every game played. This trio will be moving up to 4A and will be equipped to compete.
