After our series of articles on the Class of 2021 who should be valued, we now shift our attention to those in the Class of 2022 and those that need to be on the radar of college coaches.
We will continue to go through each conference to try and hit as many players as possible with the hopes of helping these juniors the attention of prospective college coaches.
Kaden Hall Kaden Hall 6'2" | PF English Valleys | 2022 State IA – English Valleys
The Class of 2022 in the South Iowa Cedar Conference is a very good one, and English Valleys Kaden Hall Kaden Hall 6'2" | PF English Valleys | 2022 State IA is among the group of elite talent.
Hall is coming off a sophomore campaign in which he averaged 16.4 points and 11.2 rebounds per game for the Bears. He finished with 361 points and 246 rebounds to go along with 58 steals, 43 assists and 34 blocks.
From the field, Hall shot 45.5 percent while also knocking down 15 three-pointers. He made 65.5 percent of his 110 free throw attempts as well.
Ben DeMeulenaere Ben DeMeulenaere 6'3" | PF Belle Plaine | 2022 State IA – Belle Plaine
A standout athlete, Ben DeMeulenaere Ben DeMeulenaere 6'3" | PF Belle Plaine | 2022 State IA was the leading rebounder for Belle Plaine a year ago, helping the team share the East division title in the South Iowa Cedar Conference with Keota.
DeMeulenaere pulled down 11 rebounds a night, recording 255 total. That included almost four per game on the offensive glass.
The Class of 2022 prospect scored 305 points on nearly 60 percent shooting, adding 58 blocks, 30 steals and 27 assists.
Brody Ward – Iowa Valley
Iowa Valley leaned on Brody Ward to do a little of everything in 2019-20, and the Class of 2022 prospect delivered.
Ward scored 304 points in 21 games, as the guard added 124 rebounds, 40 steals and 37 assists. He knocked down a team-high 40 three-pointers while also sinking almost 72 percent of his free throw attempts.
He is one of four regular starters set to return for the Hawks in 2020-21.
Eddie Burgess Eddie Burgess 6'4" | PF Montezuma | 2022 State IA – Montezuma
At 6-foot-4, Eddie Burgess Eddie Burgess 6'4" | PF Montezuma | 2022 State IA towers over many opponents. The Class of 2022 prospect led Montezuma to the Class 1A state tournament this past season and a third place finish.
Burgess grabbed 293 rebounds as a sophomore, averaging 10.5 per game. He also finished third on the team in scoring with 318 points, shooting over 65 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free throw line.
Along with his scoring and rebounding, Burgess also added 95 assists, 48 steals and 31 blocks.
Cole Bracewell – Colfax-Mingo
To make a run at Montezuma and the West division title in the South Iowa Cedar Conference, Colfax-Mingo will need another big season out of Cole Bracewell.
As a sophomore, Bracewell averaged almost nine points per game. He finished the season with 180 total points to go along with 64 rebounds, 19 assists and 17 steals.
Bracewell led the Tigerhawks from long-range sinking 41 three-pointers and shooting nearly 36 percent from deep.
