In the Southern California recruiting landscape, many of the top 2021 prospects have pledged to Division I programs as the CIF Southern Section has decided to delay its season until March 12th at the earliest. With the altered season, rising seniors have even less time to be evaluated live by college coaches and we wanted to highlight some of the sleeper prospects within the region who should be on the radar of college coaches.
Sheldon Grant Sheldon Grant 6'2" | PG Aquinas | 2021 State CA-S , Aquinas – Grant is a super smooth point guard who has really nice size and length for the position. The 6-foot-2 senior has a wiry and long frame to go along with his steady handle and great decision-making in the open floor. One of the best parts of Grant’s game is his ability to manage scoring and distributing very well.
Alex Crawford Alex Crawford 6'6" | SF Eastlake | 2021 State CA-S , Eastlake – Crawford is one of the better vertical athletes in Southern California. The 6-foot-6 wing is great when attacking the basket from 15-feet and in as his low swing and long first step allow him to get past defenders and to the basket where he uses his leaping ability to score over defenders. Crawford can hit the face-up set shot from the mid-range with consistency.
Steven Jammerson Steven Jammerson 6'7" | C Crespi | 2021 State CA-S , Crespi – Jammerson is a serviceable big man in a class that doesn’t feature a whole lot of size. The 6-foot-7 center is mobile in transition, has great hands when making interior catches and finishes and his defensive timing on shot blocks, contests and rebounds is not something that can easily be taught. College programs looking for a big man with upside should head to Crespi High to check him out.
Nathan Clark Nathan Clark 6'2" | PG Pacifica Christian SM | 2021 State CA-S , Pacifica Christian (Santa Monica) – Clark plays at a smaller school and doesn’t get as much coverage as his game deserves. The crafty 6-foot-2 point guard is a dual threat on the court whether it’s his scoring prowess around the basket or his ability to set teammates up for open looks out of high ball-screen action. The senior has a very nice overall feel for the game, rarely gets sped up and limits turnovers as a primary ball handler.
