It seems like class of 2021 players across the country are pulling the trigger on commitments early than they would in a normal year. As we all know this certainly isn’t a normal year as the COVID-19 pandemic has limited the number of events and participants across the country.
In the Southern California recruiting landscape, many of the top 2021 prospects have pledged to Division I programs as the CIF Southern Section has decided to delay its season until March 12th at the earliest. With the altered season, rising seniors have even less time to be evaluated live by college coaches and we wanted to highlight some of the best available prospects in SoCal.
Jaren HarrisJarenHarris6'0" | CGWindward | 2021State, Windward - Harris is a steady shot maker and decision maker who put together some big postseason efforts last season in helping the Wildcats to the Southern Section Division 1 title. The 6-foot combo guard is a reliable shooter off the catch who can also dribble into a balanced pull-up jumper. While he doesn’t play on the ball as much as your traditional point guard, Harris has the IQ and passing ability to spell teammate Dylan AndrewsDylanAndrews6'3" | PGWindward | 2022State at the position.

Christian Johnson
ChristianJohnson6'0" | PGLynwood | 2021State, Lynwood - Johnson is a dynamic scoring guard who is effective in both transition and half-court settings. The 6-footer operates well out of ball-screen action as his strength allows him to turn the corner and get into the paint to put pressure on the rim, but he can also knock down the perimeter jumper if the defense goes under the screen. Johnson showed an improvement to his playmaking ability for others last season.
Jeremiah DavisJeremiahDavis6'3" | SGFountain Valley | 2021State, Fountain Valley - Davis established himself as one of the best players in Orange County last season after averaging around the 20 points per game mark on the year. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard is great in the mid-range setting where he can elevate and shoot over defenders or face, rip and drive to the basket or opportunities at the free throw line. Davis led the Barons to its deepest playoff run in school history.
Langston Redfield
LangstonRedfield6'3" | PGCapistrano Valley | 2021State, Capistrano Valley - Redfield remains one of the more interesting players in SoCal because of his skill-set and what he brings to the floor. The wiry 6-foot-3 guard runs a team with as high of an IQ as you’ll see at the high school level with his vision and timing on passes standing out the most. Redfield is also a great defensive rebounder for his size and position, but his perimeter shooting remains a work in progress and the biggest question mark surrounding his game.
