In the Southern California recruiting landscape, many of the top 2021 prospects have pledged to Division I programs as the CIF Southern Section has decided to delay its season until March 12th at the earliest. With the altered season, rising seniors have even less time to be evaluated live by college coaches and we wanted to highlight some of the best available prospects in SoCal.
TJ Wainwright TJ Wainwright 6'3" | SG Westchester | 2021 State CA-S , Westchester – Wainwright is among the top three-point shooters in the state and his floor spreading ability will be a welcome addition to any college program. The 6-foot-3 lefty can get hot in a hurry and shoot a team back into a game if needed. Wainwright, our 26th-ranked senior, showed improvement with his ball skills and driving and finishing ability last season, as well.
Truman Gettings Truman Gettings 6'8" | PF Harvard-Westlake | 2021 State CA-S , Harvard-Westlake – Gettings is trending as a reliable inside-out scoring threat. The 6-foot-8 power forward has a strong base, burly upper body and broad shoulders, all traits that help him power up and finish through contact in the painted area. Despite his size, Gettings is mobile in transition and in ball screen situations. Our 27th-ranked prospect is a capable face-up shooter out of pick-and-pop action.
Harold Yu Harold Yu 7'3" | C Sierra Canyon | 2021 State CA-S , Sierra Canyon – In a class that is limited in big men, Yu will be a guy who is highly sought after if still available late into next season. The 7-foot-3 center made major improvements last season both in his game and in his conditioning. Yu, our 28th-ranked senior, has soft touch around the basket with both hands and has good timing as a rim protector and rebounder.
Corey Cofield, West Ranch – The athletic and high motor wing checked out of Birmingham in July and is expected to be at West Ranch high school for next season. Cofield is an explosive leaper who fills the lanes wide in transition, allowing him to get downhill and finish above the rim and through contact. The 6-foot-5 senior is our 28th-ranked prospect who has Division I potential due to his toughness, physicality and rebounding ability.
