In the Southern California recruiting landscape, many of the top 2021 prospects have pledged to Division I programs as the CIF Southern Section has decided to delay its season until March 12th at the earliest. With the altered season, rising seniors have even less time to be evaluated live by college coaches and we wanted to highlight some of the best available prospects in SoCal.
Keatten Smith Keatten Smith 6'1" | CG Santa Fe Christian | 2021 State CA-S , Santa Fe Christian – Smith is one of the best available shooters in the 2021 class. The 6-foot-1 combo guard has deep and consistent range from multiple spots behind the arc. Smith has picturesque shooting mechanics to go along with quick and compact release. Smith showed improved confidence off the bounce last season, but still needs to improve his paint finishing to maximize his potential at the next level.
Jaylen Carter Jaylen Carter 6'3" | SF Manual Arts | 2021 State CA-S , Manual Arts – We like Carter’s versatility both as a scorer and defender. The 6-foot-4 wing is good off the bounce in isolation where he can use his long strides and strength to get to the cup and finish. Carter has a smooth perimeter jumper when gets a few rhythm dribbles under his belt. Defensively, Carter can guard 1-4 at the high school level due to his instincts and length.
Lorenzo Marsh Lorenzo Marsh 6'5" | SF St. Anthony | 2021 State CA-S , St. Anthony – Marsh is a rangy wing who is deadly from three-point range when given time and space. The 6-foot-5 senior showed his clutch gene plenty last season as he hit a number of perimeter jumpers in crunch time for the Saints. Marsh is an effective operator at either elbow with his pull-up jum shot.
Keavie Love Keavie Love 6'2" | CG El Camino | 2021 State CA-S , El Camino – Love is a well-built combo guard who thrives in transition and in the painted area where he can use his combination of speed and strength to bully his way to the basket. The 6-foot-2 senior can knock down the open catch and shoot three-pointer with time and space, but makes his biggest impact as an on-ball defender who can guard, and cause havoc, at multiple positions.
