The Chargers lost in the semi-finals in overtime to the eventual champions and will use that loss to fuel their drive for a state title this season. Cole Valley Christian always plays great competition at the 2A level and has the added benefit of being located in Meridian where they can play other great competition in higher divisions. The Chargers will return the majority of their roster for their 2020-21 campaign and will look to their flourishing stock of underclassmen to help bring them another great season. Continue reading for an in-depth breakdown of a handful of players you should watch for the Chargers in the 2020-21 season.
Hunter Gill, 2021: Gill is a 6’4″ shooting guard for the Chargers who plays a little bit of everything on the floor. Gill is long and plays in the passing lanes and is a great shot blocker on defense. On offense, Hunter has a solid stroke from the outside and is always ready for catch-and-shoot opportunities. At times, you can see his youth as he is still learning how to use his body most effectively, but he has lots of potential and a great concept of the game already. With the departure of a few key seniors, I would expect Gill’s productivity to increase this season and the Chargers will look to him for more opportunities on both offense and defense.
Lakota Steele Lakota Steele 6'4" | SF Cole Valley Christian | 2022 State ID , 2022: Lakota is a great talent for the Chargers and has the ability to be one of the best players in the state of Idaho for his age. At 6’4″ the shooting guard is a tough cover and a threat from anywhere on the floor. He shoots the ball very well from downtown and is always ready to get hot. He has a beautiful pull-up jumper and the ability to get all the way to the bucket to finish with either hand if defenders do not cut him off in time. With the ability to score at all three levels and significant height, Lakota is a match-up nightmare which forces teams to pay extra attention to him. Watch for Lakota to lead the Chargers this season as they attempt a run at the state title.
