Here is the San Antonio Rankings: Top 2021 Power Forwards
#1 – Adam Benhayoune (6-5) – O’Connor
A fantastic stretch-four with deep shooting range, Benhayoune had a tremendous junior season for O’Connor where he finished a tenth of a rebound shy from averaging a double-double. Benhayoune put up 17.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game for the Panthers. Has terrific range as a knockdown three-point shooter and can score in bunches. Plays physical in the paint, and is patient with the ball in his hands. Not only can he handle the rock, but he also has good vision and is a great passer from the forward position. Benhayoune is also a strong rebounder who is a technician at boxing out opponents. Earned All-District 28-6A First Team & Offensive MVP / TABC 6A Region 4 All-Region Team
#2 – Anston Bryant-Kelley Anston Bryant-Kelley 6'5" | PF San Antonio East Central | 2021 State TX (6-5) – East Central
Bryant-Kelley is a nightmare for opponents as he showed elite defensive play at multiple positions during his junior year. He is a force in the paint as a shot-blocker and rim protector, constantly altering shots and creating turnovers, with one of his best defensive performances coming in at six blocks versus Cibolo Steele last season. Bryant-Kelley shows great athleticism on the hardwood and does a terrific job of running the floor and filling his lane in the fast break. He can really get up on dunks and will only get better on offense. Any given night Bryant-Kelley has the ability to put up a double-double, while already providing a great defensive floor. Earned All-District 26-6A Second Team
#3 – Freddy Amaro (6-4) – Antonian Prep
Amaro is a smooth playmaking forward who has the versatility to play either wing position. During his junior season at Antonian Prep, Amaro averaged 10.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest. He’s also been turning heads with his play this summer for ProSkills San Antonio on the grassroots circuit. Amaro is savvy with the ball in his hands and isn’t afraid to let it fly from beyond-the-arc, where he has the ability to nail shots with a defender in his face. Plays under control and has several moves that allow him to create space to get to the rim or pull-up in the mid-range. Fights through contact and is physical when attacking the basket.
#4 – Manuel Rabago (6-6) – Harlandale
A very talented forward prospect with the skills of a guard, Rabago can do it all on the court and was a star for Harlandale playing power forward and center during his junior season. Rabago possesses great shooting range, draining catch-and-shoot opportunities from beyond-the-arc. Has a quick first step when driving by opponents to the basket. Sets the tone physically in the post, while deploying several post moves to finish at the basket. Plays tall and is a strong rebounder. Rabago is also a terrific passer, with nice vision and with a very strong outlet pass. Earned All-District 26-5A First Team
#5 – Seth Thomas (6-7) – Reagan
Thomas has shined as a strong and steady post player for the Next Level Raiders this summer on the grassroots circuit. Thomas’s strengths are his ability to gobble up rebounds, especially on the offensive boards, all while creating second-chance opportunities for his teammates. His ability to clean up the boards and finish strong at the basket has been a big plus for the Raiders. Possesses smooth finishing ability and awareness on the block. Thomas is a player to watch moving forward as he could have a breakout senior season at Reagan.
#6 – Angelo Samudio (6-4) – Stevens
Nothing is fancy about Samudio’s game but he simply gets the job done and is an extremely hard worker on the court, and the stats back up his play. During his junior season for Stevens, Samudio averaged 13.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. He does most of his work in the post but also has extended shooting range to keep defenses honest. Samudio battles hard in the paint on defense and is a particularly good shot-blocker. He isn’t a big-time leaper, but his length and anticipation allow for him to be a disruptive force as a rim protector. Earned All-District 28-6A First Team
#7 – Matthew Monger (6-4) – Cornerstone Christian
Monger is another player in the rankings that plays the forward position but has the skills of a guard. He plays with great awareness and is always hustling on the court. During his junior year with Fredricksburg, Monger averaged 8.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest. He’s a versatile offensive weapon as he can post up and finish strong, or be a pick-and-pop shooter. Monger possesses great shooting range and is a true threat from three-point territory. Monger will be an exciting prospect to watch moving forward as he will play his senior ball at Cornerstone Christian.
