Here are some of the players who looked good from 15U play on Sunday:
Jack Janicki Jack Janicki 6'4" | SG White Bear Lake | 2023 State #277 Nation MN , D1 Minnesota
Janicki is a smooth-shooting, athletic swingman out of White Bear Lake and with the way he played throughout the weekend, it’s easy to see that he’s going to be one of the top players in the 2023 class. He’s got good size. He handles the ball well, but doesn’t need it all the time, as he’s good as a cutter and spot-up shooter. And he’s smart on the defensive end of the floor.
Cole Johnson Cole Johnson 6'3" | SG Chatfield | 2023 State MN , MN Lightning Emge
Johnson was a productive player for Chatfield as a freshman and looks like a guy who could make some noise next year down south. He’s got good size/length for a combo guard and plays with a great tempo at all times. He never seems to get sped up and he’s good at both getting into the paint and knocking down shots from the perimeter.
Isaac Matti Isaac Matti 6'1" | SG Hayfield | 2023 State MN , MN Lightning Timm
Matti has already started for two years at Hayfield, one of the top teams in Class A over that span, and watching him over the weekend, he looks poised to take a big step and become a household name down south. He’s a smooth shooter with range beyond the 3-point line. He’s adept at breaking down defenders and can finish in the paint. And his intelligence shows up in his playmaking and on the defensive end of the court.
Aaron Stevens, MN Lightning Timm
Stevens is an intriguing player. He’s 6-foot-4 with good length, but moves and plays like a guard. He handles the ball well for a longer guy, and sees the floor well. He’s a solid finisher at the rim, possessing the ability to play through contact and elevate for finishes. And on the defensive end, he’s capable of sticking with smaller guys on the perimeter while also mixing it up inside and rebounding out of his area.
Josh Och, MN Crossfire
Och looks like an excellent natural point guard. He’s got a tight handle and the shiftiness to get by first-row defenders, and once he does, he’s a threat to either pull up, finish with a teardrop, get all the way to the rim or pitch to an open shooter. And he gets after people on defense. He puts pressure on the passing lanes and does a good job staying in front of opposing ballhandlers.
