Jasper Hedin Jasper Hedin 6'5" | SF Winona | 2022 State MN of Minnesota Lightning (6’6 SF of Winona; 2022). This was a really fun weekend to track the ability of Jasper Hedin Jasper Hedin 6'5" | SF Winona | 2022 State MN . Jasper looks to me like what a top track athlete would resemble: big long frame, runs well, very good straight line leaper who can finish aggressively. That’s what I initially saw this winter. This weekend what we have started to see from Jasper is a player that is taking those physical gifts and becoming a guy that finds ways to consistently be a scorer. He led the Lighting this weekend with nearly 16 points a game and while doing that he rebounded well from his big win spot. Jasper has the chance to step in and be a top player in the Big Nine the next two seasons.
Xavier Lewis Xavier Lewis 6'7" | PF Tf South | 2022 State IL of Young & Reckless (6’6 Forward of TF South IL; 2022). Xavier Lewis Xavier Lewis 6'7" | PF Tf South | 2022 State IL was coming downhill at other bigs all weekend and very few were able to move a body to slow down what Lewis was able to do. I think he moved perfectly off high ball screens this weekend and when he wasn’t scoring with a dribble going to the rim, his effort in securing the ball off the rim was excellent. He opened the event with a 15-16 rebound game and never stopped rebounding.
Joshua Ola-Joseph Joshua Ola-Joseph 6'6" | SF Osseo | 2022 State #166 Nation MN of D1 Minnesota (6’5 Wing of Osseo; 2022). When Joshua Ola-Joseph Joshua Ola-Joseph 6'6" | SF Osseo | 2022 State #166 Nation MN takes that next step he’s going to be talked about in a lot of recruiting meetings. He simply has physical gifts of long stride sprints, explosive two-foot bounce, length to swat and board, that most don’t have and we are all aware of that. He’s starting to use those gifts more and more to impact possessions on both ends. When his skills take another step (starting to see some threes go down a bit more) and he makes use of those physical skills to do even more, should be fun. Ola-Joseph has the length and agility to be the type of defender that even all state players fear. It will be fun to see if/when he gets there. In the loss to PGC, Ola-Joseph used those physical gifts to lead his team in scoring and rebounding, and overall bettering the numbers of the top player in Wisconsin’s 2022 class who played the same position.
Gabe Senseman-Cassidy of Minnesota Heat Grow (6’5 Forward of Minneapolis Southwest; 2022) Gabe is a versatile wing/forward who finishes well with either hand around the hoop. Averaged about ten points and five rebounds per game this weekend with very efficient numbers. Capable of going end to end to finish in transition and also defends in the post very well. Will be a key player on a solid Southwest team this high school season.
AJ Storr AJ Storr 6'3" | SG Kankakee | 2021 IL of Illinois Hoop Stars (6’5 Wing of Bishop Gorman NV; 2022). The best all around scoring performance I saw all weekend was Storr putting up 32 points against veteran guards on the D1 Minnesota Prospects team. He scored 13 of 19 points first using his physical abilities to attack and once those defending him played off in fear, Storr knocked down five straight shots including three threes. Then, with the game on the line and the clock counting down, Storr attacked a defense for a game winning lay-up and the defenders looked helpless. What was really cool was that Storr maintained high scoring numbers all weekend at both the 17u AND the 16u level! A talent I expect to hear a lot about in the near future.
Josh Terrian Josh Terrian 6'4" | SF Pewaukee | 2022 State WI of JH1 Elite (6’4 Wing of Pewaukee; 2022). If you watch Josh for five minutes you catch the instant impression of “looks like he shoots it well, has good strength, seems quite engaged”. After watching a full game the impression changes to “is a shooter, uses his strength very well in separation to the catch, uses his strength well in jostling to board or win a position, is a vocal, smart player that dissects each possession and looks for a way to help his team win with every possession not matter what role he has to play in that possession”.
