Time to revisit the Class of 2022 rankings and adjust to account for the player’s growth or stagnation. Rankings are subjective and PrepHoops.com/Tennessee (@CourtneyHoops90 + @AndrewForce8) ranks purely upon potential and where the player will be at their basketball peak. Production factors in only when helping prove the potential is greater or lesser. Why did we rank these guys? Why are they at this spot? Take a look at several Class of 2022 prospects and learn a little about their reputation
Son of Loretto High School Head Coach Greg Tipps, Brendon is the backup point guard for the Tennessee Tigers
16u program. Tipps was present but did not dress varsity for Loretto’s 2018 State Championship. It was a rollicking run for a beautifully cohesive senior class and Brendon was a witness. A culture of winning at Loretto permeates throughout all of their players. Tipps is familiar with winning and continues to do so with the Tennessee Tigers
16u team. Areas for improvement: speed, finishing in traffic. Tipps can be a nice catch-and-shoot player and plays with a unique spacial awareness but he must improve his capacity to play at higher speeds in order to impress college scouts in the next 2 years.
Football player, star basketball player, baseball player. Brayden is probably a player unfamiliar to many readers and coaches. That is unfortunate because Watertown’s district is actually very tough (Upperman, Livingston Academy, York Institute) filled with college prospects and Brayden was clearly one of the best in 2019-2020 even though it was just his sophomore season. Cousino’s change of direction makes him very tough to defend.
Gus competed at the 2019 PrepHoopsTN Spring Combine and though he was a little stiff, the skills and passion for the game suggested his high school future would be exciting perhaps full of accomplishments.
AAU Gus is a new beast, a beast that burst free from the dungeon to dominate the basketball world. To open August, Davenport scored a startling 26 points for his Tennessee Spurs in an event. “I had 26 in the championship and finished the weekend with 82 points in 4 games,” shared Davenport via Twitter DM Monday afternoon.
Styles was the beneficiary of a full evaluation during our 2019 Summer Combine (Cleveland, TN). In the last year+, Styles has grown to 6-foot-4.

6'4" | SG Ooltewah | 2022StateTN(Ooltewah) brought a feisty game to the PrepHoopsTN Summer Combine. Styles projects as a shooting guard, or more vaguely a wing. Entering his sophomore season, Styles is almost ready to score at the varsity level. He has clear strengths and weaknesses and a willingness to work to improve both.
See how he measured up in June 2019.

Christoper invested in every drill. His tenacity will carry him further than the average man. He does have one major limitation and that is foot speed.
Styles shoots slightly better than average both catch-and-shoot and off the dribble. He just doesn’t get up the floor fast. Styles’ 3/4 court times hovered around 3.80, which is not good. Ladders, plyometrics, and sprints are good drills to develop speed. Styles needs to improve in this facet quickly.
Entering his sophomore season he does have potential to help his program. Styles brings nice height (6’2″) and again his shot is decent.
Styles is one of those ‘yes, sir, no sir’ guys that some coaches truly love. He is extremely coachable. In fact, Styles seeks out instruction where most players accept it. His eagerness to improve will be another help in these key development years.
