This series will review my initial 15 players to watch as potential MVP candidates in the 757 this season. While this list will obviously be subject to change as the season begins and progresses, right now in my opinion these players have the best cases as MVP candidates. When considering this list, my criteria included considering their resumes and their current projected team situation.
1. Donald Hand Jr | 6’4 CG 2022 | Landstown
Why: Hand Jr is in a position to really dominate at Landstown. This 6’4 guard will see a lot of time at both guard slots this season, and I think his play at point could earn him MVP. At 6’4, not many point guards will stop this tall guard from nailing 3s. Expect Hand Jr to breakout this season. Hand Jr also consistently displayed a high basketball IQ last season, and I trust that he will show off excellent decision making as the lead guard.
2. Dominic Stanford Dominic Stanford 6'4" | SG Kempsville | 2021 State VA | 6’5 Wing 2021 | Kempsville
Why: Stanford is an explosive wing who could potentially average 20 and 10 this season. With his bounce, Stanford can come flying in for easy boards all game long. In addition to being an athletic slasher, Stanford can also hit the open 3. Expect Stanford to take off this season as the leader for this Kempsville squad.
3. Cameron Edmonds | 6’2 PG 2021 | Western Branch
Why: Consistency. Edmonds is one of the most consistent players in the 757. This guard is capable of exploding at any point and shoots efficiently from deep. With Efrem ‘Butta’ Johnson Efrem ‘Butta’ Johnson 6'4" | NA lbs | SG Grissom | 2022 State #NA Nation AL as his backcourt mate, both will be able to take turns scorching the defense. Edmonds is an easy 15+ and 5+ assists type guard and will look to once again be a contender in the 757 with Western Branch.
