Some players had strong performances on the day as they showed their ability to play at the next level. Here are the top standouts from the second day of the NJ Summer Finale.
Marcus Pierce Marcus Pierce 6'1" | CG Compass Prep | 2022 State NJ , 6’2 PG Jersey Force Select (St. Joe’s Hammonton) 2021
Pierce has been running the show for the Jersey Force Select team all summer and it was no different at the NJ Summer Finale. The 6’2 guard attacked the basket strong and was able to make shots through contact. Pierce has a nice handle and is able to break his defender off the bounce. He shot the ball with confidence and moves his feet well on defense. Pierce is a talented lead guard whose stock has gone up since the start of the summer.
Darren Tuck Darren Tuck 6'4" | SG St. Joe's Metuchen | 2022 State NJ , 6’4 SG NJ Panthers 16U (Immaculata) 2022
Tuck had a strong performance at the NJ Summer Finale as he showed off his ability to score the ball in multiple ways. The 6’4 guard played with confidence and was finishing around the basket. Tuck pushed the ball well in transition and showed off his good handle. He has a good release on his shot and can knock down jumpers from behind the arc. Tuck is a skilled guard who had a strong season for the NJ Panthers 16U team.
Silas Sunday Silas Sunday 7'0" | C Our Savior Lutheran | 2022 State NY , 6’6 PG NJ Beasts 17U (St. Benedict’s) 2022
Bembry played with the Beasts at the NJ Summer Finale and showed out. The 6’6 guard was hard to contain off the bounce and was finishing around the basket. Bembry has a good handle and was running the offense smoothly. He showed off his athleticism with a good chase down block on Ethan Garita Ethan Garita 6'8" | PF Princeton Day School | 2021 State NJ . Bembry is a talented point guard who is ready for a big 2020-21 season.
David Luberoff David Luberoff 6'9" | PF Blair Academy | 2023 State NJ , 6’8 PF NJ Beasts 16U (Midland Park) 2022
Luberoff had a stellar showing at the NJ Summer Finale as he proved why he is one of the most underrated players in the 2022 class. The 6’8 forward was dominant down low as he swatted shots around the basket and ripped down rebounds. Luberoff consistently drew contact around the basket and showed off a nice touch down low. He has a good shooting stroke and his range extends past the three-point line. Luberoff is a talented stretch four who has been a strong part of the NJ Beasts 16U squad.
Sterrell Hearns, 6’2 SG NJ Bulldogs (Carteret) 2021
The Bulldogs may have lost both their games at the NJ Summer Finale, but that does not take away from Hearns’ performance. The 6’2 attacked the basket with reckless abandon and could not be stopped from getting to the rim. Hearns has a nice handle and was at his best in his transition. He rebounded the ball against bigger opponents and played good defense. Hearns is a tough guard prospect who is ready for a big senior season.
