The 2021 class is full of talent and this event gave me the opportunity to see some new players that are not currently on the Nebraska 2021 Rankings, but will be on the next update. These are five senior prospects and one Junior that are having breakout summers or have been overlooked during their high school careers.
Anthony Adkinsson Anthony Adkinsson 6'1" | SF Omaha Benson | 2021 State NE
Adkinsson is a long and athletic wing player that can rebound and finish around the basket. He stood out in his game Friday night by posting up smaller defenders and scoring with ease. Adkinsson had stretches on Friday where he looked like the best player on the court, but he needs to be more disciplined defensively and avoid fouling to stay on the floor. He was aggressive on defense, scored efficiently on the interior, and got up quickly to finished a two handed dunk in transition.
Taveon Thompson Taveon Thompson 6'4" | PF Lincoln Southeast | 2021 NE
Thompson is a physical post and athlete that can defend multiple positions and rebound. After averaging 8.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a Junior, Thompson was a oversight that should be somewhere in the top 75 of the 2021 class. He is strong enough to back players under the basket, can attack from the perimeter, and is a patient scorer in the paint.
Jason Warner Jason Warner 6'5" | C Omaha Central | 2021 State NE
Warner is post player that gets physical on both ends of the floor and can score from the block. He plays his role well, which is staying around the basket, rebounding, and running the floor. Warner had a fast break dunk on Friday when he beat his matchup down the court in transition.
Both Dol Both Dol 6'5" | SF Papillion-LaVista South | 2021 State NE
Dol is a hard working and versatile forward. He sets good screens and plays hard without the ball. Dol uses his length to be disruptive defensively, rebound, and finish efficiently at the rim.
Tony Tubrick V Tony Tubrick V 6'7" | C Omaha Creighton Prep | 2021 State NE
Tubrick is a tall and lanky post player that can block and contest shots around the basket. He needs to continue to get stronger to be able to battle for position in the post, but Tubrick makes quick moves when he catches on the block. He can turn over both shoulders and score over the top of defenders.
Evan Inselman Evan Inselman 6'6" | SF Bellevue West | 2022 State NE
Inselman is a long and agile forward from the class of 2022 that can score on the interior and attack the rim with straight line drives. His length makes it difficult to contest his shot around the basket and on the perimeter. Inselman makes an impact on both ends of the floor and still has a lot of room to improve. He will be somewhere in the top 50 of the next Nebraska 2022 Rankings with potential to be much higher than that if he continues to improve at this rate.
