They were lead by now University of Utah guard Jackson Brenchley. Skyridge and Corner Canyon came out of the gate with a lot of talent. A small school like Summit Academy was able to build a program in short time and win a State Champion.
When it comes to RSL Academy last season they were anything but good. In just a short off-season the go from the cellar to contender in a matter of months. With Utah being a choice state when it comes to students attending school it enables students regardless of sports to enroll in any school they would like to go to regardless of boundaries. Things took a drastic change when RSL Academy was ready to build a legit basketball program that could rival any team in the state and country with the hiring of Dave Evans one of the most high profile coaches in the country that parted ways with Wasatch Academy and previously Lone Peak. To any true basketball fan it is easy to see that every team Coach Evans is involved in. It looked like it was going to be 1 or 2 year process to make this team competitive, but the process has speed itself up with the addition of some solid players.
6’11 C Adam Stewart (Texas)
The Texas native who is a Class of 2022 prospect is the most recent addition to a roster that is starting to come together. Adam is no stranger to Utah players as he has played his AAU ball with the Houston Defenders and competed against a lot of talent from Utah. Adam is big and long. He moves well and is solid on the blocks. Look for him to really reach a new level with the rigor he will experience at his new school.
6’5 Junior Higby Junior Higby 6'5" | CG RSL Academy | 2023 State UT
A late bloomer that is starting to find his own Junior comes over from Brighton High School were he was seldomly used. Junior has a solid all-around game and he defends well on the blocks and out on the wings. He will be a great option at the 3. Junior plays club for Salt Lake Bounce and he is a Class of 2023 prospect.
6’7 Max Topham
Max provides length at the 4 with his stretch ability he is also a stat stuffer that can really place himself in the right position to haul in boards and dish out assist. Look for Max to really take it to the next level. Max makes his way over from 2A Parowan a small school in Central Utah.
5’11 Taki Uluilakepa (Washington)
Taki is a little bulldog defender that can really make an immediate impact as a Class of 2023 prospect. He can shoot from deep and break players down off the dribble and get to the rim or hit that mid-range.
6’2 Trey Evans Trey Evans 6'5" | PG RSL Academy | 2023 State UT
Trey is the son of Coach Dave Evans but he earns all his playing time. Trey has that basketball coaches son IQ. He is poised on offense and can really run a team unselfishly. Look for Trey to really shine and continue to grow.
This is just a small sample of some of the players that will suit up for RSL Academy and look out because here they come.
