Here are some of the top 17U forwards from the summer:
Jacksen Moni Jacksen Moni 6'9" | PF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2021 State ND , ECI Prospects
Moni is arguably the top big guy in North Dakota’s 2021 class and the big reason why is he is terrific on the defensive end of the floor. He’s 6-foot-9 and while he’s not a big shot-blocker, he’s excellent at diverting shots in the paint and defending without fouling. He’s really smart on that end of the floor. He’s in good position to help and recover, he does a good job fighting for positioning and he rebounds everything in his area. I want to see more from him on the offensive end of the floor when it comes to screening, crashing the glass and finishing. He’s a streaky perimeter shooter who can certainly light it up in pick-and-pop spots and his basketball intellect shows up on that end as he’s a very good passer.
Alex Huber Alex Huber 6'6" | SF Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier | 2021 State ND , ND Attack Green
Huber was one of the top forwards in Class B during his junior season and it translated to the grassroots circuit, where he was one of ND Attack’s better players. He’s built like a four man but had to guard up on an undersized ND Attack team, but he was effective as a rim-runner, cutter and finisher. He’s got good moves in the low post, the strength to finish through contact and a motor that allows him to produce without a lot of manufactured touches.
Wyatt Enno Wyatt Enno 6'2" | SF Turtle Mountain | 2021 State ND , ND Phenom
Enno missed his junior season with an injury, so getting out to play this summer was huge for him – and he made the most of it. The Turtle Mountain swingman has the skill to create his own shot from anywhere on the floor, the ability to play through contact and finish efficiently and he’s a solid passer. His versatility on the defensive end is a big plus as well.
Keith Levin Keith Levin 6'6" | PF Jamestown | 2021 State ND , ND Phenom
Levin might not wow with huge scoring numbers, but he’s a high-level player in his role. He’s a country-strong big man who rebounds everything in his area, sets screens and finishes at a high rate around the rim. He’s well-schooled on the defensive end of the floor, anchoring his team’s defense, supplying help when needed while also making life incredibly difficult for his counterpart.
Gunner Swanson Gunner Swanson 6'5" | SF Bismarck | 2021 State ND , ECI Prospects
Swanson had a terrific run with ECI Prospects in an abbreviated summer circuit, showcasing all the skills that you’d want from a college wing player. The Bismarck product knows how to play without the ball, excelling on spot-ups and cuts while showing the burst to get to the rim and finish against closeouts. He’s got the athleticism and size to defend at least three positions and rebound out of his area.
Noah Swenson Noah Swenson 6'5" | PF Oak Grove | 2021 State ND , Pentagon Schoolers
Swenson doesn’t get the offensive workload during the grassroots season that he has with Oak Grove, but he does a great job impacting the game nonetheless. Swenson stands out as a guy who understands positioning on the defensive end of the floor, as he’s consistently in good position to wall off opposing ballhandlers, and give help before recovering to his man. He’s a strong area rebounder who does a good job carving out space inside.
