Though opportunities to get out and evaluate have been relatively scarce, we’ve been fortunate to have had chances to be in the gym from time to time. In those instances, certain rising freshmen have been standing out. Here is a breakdown of some of those standout freshmen along with a few others we’ve seen over time.
Donnie Freeman | St. John’s (DC)
Freeman is a long and wiry 6-foot-7 forward with an intriguing combination of length and athleticism. He is expected to log significant minutes from day one while adding depth and versatility to the Cadets frontcourt.
Darren Harris | Paul VI (VA)
Paul VI is known to bring in at least one stud guard each year, and Harris appears to be next in line. The skilled 6-foot-5 guard brings prototypical size to the wing position and his ability to provide floor spacing will be essential.
Jaeden Mustaf | DeMatha (MD)
At 6-foot-4, Mustaf is an exciting lead guard prospect who demonstrates a high basketball IQ and impressive defensive potential. DeMatha’s backcourt is loaded, but it’s hard to ignore what Mustaf brings to the table.
Khani Rooths | Georgetown Prep (MD)
Rooths is a hard-playing wing with a nice blend of size and skill at about 6-foot-4. Georgetown Prep could surprise some teams next year and the addition of Rooths will likely be part of the reason why.
Shamar Sisco | Christ Chapel (VA)
Sisco is unique in that he’s already logged minutes at the varsity level. A 5-foot-8 guard who is lethal from long range, he is a solid-ball handler and a tenacious defender who is efficient with the ball.

Caleb Williams | Sidwell Friends (DC)
Caleb is the third Williams brother who will be playing varsity hoops at Sidwell Friends, and like his brothers, he has good size. One trait that sets him apart from his brothers is the fact that he’s left-handed and a knockdown shooter. Expect Williams to hit the ground running during his freshman season.
