Tre Holloman Tre Holloman 6'2" | PG Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State #57 Nation MN (6’2 2022 PG, Howard Pulley 16u)- Tre Holloman Tre Holloman 6'2" | PG Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State #57 Nation MN continues to prove why he’s one of the top point guards nationally in the 2022 class. In a win over Minnesota Phenom 17u, Tre put in a strong performance with double figure scoring and assist numbers likely hovering around the double digits as well. However, it was in the showcase match-up that Tre really took over. Matching up against a five star point guard in the 2021 class, Tre won the individual battle and helped lead his team to an exciting victory. Tre showed no fear picking up full court with his aggressive style of play, and even saw time defending a D1 offered 6’6 wing, further showcasing his versatility. Offensively he’s just too fast with the ball in his hands for players to keep in front of, as he got to the rim at will and was able to complete on some tough finishes over size.
Carrington Mcneal Carrington Mcneal 6'3" | PG Tca | 2022 State MN (6’1 2022 PG, Howard Pulley 15u)- Though a class of ’22 prospect, Carrington is young for his grade and has been excelling with Howard Pulley’s 15u team. Carrington is a lightning quick guard able to create a lot of separation off the dribble, and he showcased a soft touch on his pull-up jumper from mid-range. The 6’1 guard also showcased some craftiness around the rim, able to euro-step around taller defenders to finish, or dump off a pass at the last second to an open teammate.
Kabine Kaba (6’5 2021 F, MN Phenom 17u)- A deep sleeper prospect, I thought Kabine Kaba showcased some nice flashes of potential. The Park Center forward has some intriguing athleticism for his size, with the mobility to be a versatile piece on the defensive end. Offensively he did most of his damage around the rim, where he finished at a high percentage off of dump off passes, and also showed the ability to attack off the dribble from the perimeter.
Jacob Butler Jacob Butler 6'3" | SF Minneapolis North | 2022 State MN (6’3 2022 W)- With Minneapolis North as a sophomore, Jacob mostly stuck to his role as a three point shooting threat. This summer however, he showcased his ability to create off the dribble. On Saturday he did a good job of attacking the basket off the dribble, and finished equally as well with either hand. He appears to have added a dangerous hesitation move, which he used to create a lot of separation leading to penetration or an open look from three. He had three strong performances, including a big scoring game against OSA Crusaders 15u.
Mitchell January Mitchell January 6'1" | SG Richfield | 2022 State MN (6’ 2022 PG, MN Suns 16u)- Mitchell January Mitchell January 6'1" | SG Richfield | 2022 State MN had a strong sophomore season for Richfield, and judging by his performance Saturday, he’s only continued to improve. January is an extremely quick ball handler, and he had no problem creating opportunities for himself to score both at the rim and from the perimeter. In transition he was able to fly up the floor and score multiple fast break buckets around the rim. I also liked his ability to drive and dish, which led to some clean looks around the rim for his bigs, and open threes for his wings.
Hassan Kamara Hassan Kamara 6'4" | SG Columbia Heights | 2022 MN (6’4 2022 SF, Howard Pulley 16u)- Really liked Hassan’s ability to contribute on both ends of the floor. As a defender he took a charge in both games I saw, and had no problem matching up against Division One offered talents. Offensively he used his high arcing shot to knock down a handful of threes with range stretching well beyond the high school arc. Hassan also showed off the ability to slash from the wing and finish at the rim through contact. Whenever a ball was loose, Hassan was the first one to dive on the floor for it, and those are the type of plays that helped Howard Pulley take down OSA Crusaders 17u in a one possession game.
Joshua Ola-Joseph Joshua Ola-Joseph 6'6" | SF Osseo | 2022 State #166 Nation MN (6’5 2022 SF, MN Phenom 17u)- After a strong season with D1 Minnesota 16u, Josh played with Minnesota Phenom’s 17u squad on Saturday. The long wing prospect looked more comfortable creating off the dribble, maneuvering his way to the rim for strong finishes. Josh was a dangerous player in transition who was wreaking havoc on rims all day long, including a few alley-oop finishes. Add in a handful of three point makes and his presence as a rim protector defensively, and Josh had a strong showing.
