They are part of the unexposed player group, who might end up making a D1 roster if they have the right exposure. The bottom line is that the players from #35-#29 have the talent they need.
35. Alexander Halpern | Junior | Bronx Science
Coming from Bronx Science, academics comes off as the number one priority, so for Halpern to have success in the classroom and then shift his mindset to the basketball court and contribute at a high level is all the more impressive. Halpern has shown success in shooting, as his quick release as well as his off-ball movements make him a pain for defenders to guard and keep track of.
34. Damian Wright | Junior | Morris
Damian Wright has been exceptional when driving to the rim and creating contact with defenders, but where Wright really excels is from beyond the arc. Wright is able to shoot both off his dribble and off the pass and convert effectively. Wright is also able to shoot from slightly outside the three point line, which may seem like a small distance, but that little extra space comes in handy for the rest of the team in the paint.
33. Kevin Figueroa | Junior | Jane Addams
This season for Jane Addams, the offense needed someone to step up and fill in a guard role, and Figueroa did just that. Figueroa proved that he can slowly and thoughtfully direct the offense and take it from backcourt to frontcourt, setting up himself and his teammates for both open shots and open lanes, while he has liked the fastbreak equally as much, where his tenacious defense and speed have come in handy.
32. Jerson Romero Diaz | Sophomore | Academy for Language and Tech
Like many unsung stars, Jerson Romero Diaz attends a PSAL B division school. However, he doesn’t let that hamper his performance, as he has transferred to one of Bronx’s best, overall. Diaz has been a great all around guard, having the speed and awareness to challenge players while having the speed to succeed at the rim, whether it be through a fastbreak or with a standstill defense in his way.
31. Anghel Gomez | Junior | Explorations
Anghel Gomez, like so many others, is another productive big who dominates the city. However, Anghel scores in bulk much more than traditional bigs and even daily double-double threats. Anghel is able to be a force on the offensive glass, towering over others to secure second change points, as well as frequently being used over and over again in pick and roll plays.
30. Kedar Davis | Sophomore | St. Rays
Kedar Davis’s position is listed as a small forward, but Davis has shown to everyone that he can truly play all five positions. At 6’5”, Davis has the height to play the forward spots in the paint, on both ends of the floor, while his athletic build allows him to play the guard spots. His reliable shot gives him added offensive versatility, and sets him up well to drive to the basket.
29. Omar Shoulders | Junior | Taft
This season, Shoulders became one of the best volume big men in the city, joining the ranks of Cameron Sweeney and others with huge rebounding numbers. Shoulders lacks a steady jumpshot, but he more than makes up for it in the paint. He is able to stop offenses and secure top dollar rebounds while keeping his own offense alive with this action on the offensive glass, proving to be invaluable, especially late game.
