The two-day event features a three-game guarantee where the nine teams are split into separate pools. Pool A: TAZ Elite, Texas Hardwork, ProSkills Austin. Pool B: Southern Assault, Houston Defenders, Next Level Raiders. Pool C: ASAK Elite, Team F.O.E., T.H.P. Elite. Thankfully we were able to cover the event through the live broadcast by TBScouts Youtube feed.
Here are several standout players from Day 1 of the ASAK Nation Classic:
SG Coleton Benson Coleton Benson 6'1" | SG Austin Bowie | 2021 State TX (2021) – ASAK Elite
Benson played with great control and confidence in the two games for ASAK Elite and showed off his shooting range nailing deep three-point shots. Benson put up 17 points against F.O.E., hitting three 3s, and added 9 points in limited play versus T.H.P. Elite in the first game of the day. Benson is one of the purest scorers at the tournament, and he flashed with the ability to be an efficient shooter from deep and in the mid-range.
SG Cason Wallace Cason Wallace 6'4" | CG Richardson | 2022 State #6 Nation TX (2022) – TAZ Elite
Wallace made plays all over the court in both of TAZ Elite’s games on Saturday, filling up the stat sheet with 7 points, 4 blocks and 3 rebounds against Proskills Austin. He then followed that up with 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 block performance versus Texas Hardwork. Wallace is one of the hardest working defenders at the tournament, with several blocks per game, and he can score at will on offense. TAZ Elite had Wallace bringing the ball up as the point guard and Wallace didn’t seem out of place, he can play multiple positions at a high level.
SG C.J. Noland C.J. Noland 6'4" | SG Waxahachie | 2021 State #129 Nation TX (2021) – TAZ Elite
One of the top players in the state of Texas, Noland did not disappoint with his play on Saturday. Noland racked up 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists versus Texas Hardwork, and a 14 point performance against Proskills Austin earlier in the day. Noland can do it all from the wing and places with great pace. He was able to get into the paint with ease and did a nice job of facilitating to open teammates. Noland holds offers from some top college programs in the country.
PG Wade Taylor Wade Taylor 6'0" | PG Lancaster | 2021 State #103 Nation TX (2021) – Southern Assault
Taylor is a magician with the ball and is super smooth getting to the basket. Taylor scored 15 points in the opener versus Next Level Raiders, and followed it up with 11 points against the Houston Defenders. Opponents have an extremely difficult time stopping Taylor from getting to his spots, and he does a great job of finishing near the rim. Has terrific play speed and is in complete control on the court.
