As Idaho Falls joins the mix at the 5A ranks, it is sure to be a competitive season with lots of great games leading to the state tournament. The eastern Idaho boys are often overlooked, but this season will showcase exactly why the east side of the state can hang with the best of them. Kaden Dabell, 2021: The point guard/shooting guard from Rigby will catch teams in the east by surprise this year. Dabell has great handles that allow him to get anywhere on the floor with ease and he always has his head up for easy dishes in the lane or pushing the ball ahead on a fast break. Kaden has a solid jump shot from outside and finishes will around the rim with both hands, through traffic, and through contact. Rigby will look to Dabell to add some scoring responsibilities to his his already full plate and I fully expect him to rise to the challenge.
Taden King Taden King 6'4" | PG Madison | 2021 State ID , 2021: A 6’3″ point guard/shooting guard, King is a gifted scorer. Taden averaged 16.7 points per game last season while shooting over 50% from the field. He is long enough to rise over taller defenders for a pull up jumper and can drive around anyone to finish at the basket with both hands. King does a great job of making reads out of the pick-and-roll and always comes off of the screen low and tight. I expect the Madison Bobcats to put the ball in King’s hands all year and I would love to see him become a part of the 50, 40, 90 club.
Jaxon Sorenson Jaxon Sorenson 6'4" | SF Idaho Falls | 2021 State ID , 2021: Sorenson is a dynamic player for the Idaho Falls Tigers as he plays at almost every position. As the Tigers make the transition to the 5A level this season, Jaxon will have the ball in his hands more with better opportunities to create for himself and his teammates. Jaxon is a great cutter who finds small gaps and is always in the right spot at the right time. He has a solid jump shot and the ability to attack the rim and finish through traffic. I would expect Sorenson up his game this season as he carries more weight for the Tigers.
Lloyer Driggs, 2021: Lloyer Driggs is an underrated talent from the east side of the state. After averaging nearly 17 points per game as a junior for the Thunder Ridge Titans, Driggs will look to boost his numbers and percentages in the 2020-21 season. Driggs is a great scorer at all three levels. He can drive and finish around the hoop with great footwork, get to his midrange jumper with ease, or step back and shoot off the dribble from way behind the arc. Lloyer is always looking for crafty ways to score and will lead the Titans this season. Driggs is another guy who has a great chance at joining the coveted 50, 40, 90 club while leading his team.
