Assane Diop Assane Diop 6'10" | PF Belleview Christian | 2023 State #107 Nation CO – Blazers
Diop got back to his dominating ways on Day 4. He is so active on the floor and with his size and his presence on the court makes such a difference. Diop is commanding the ball, grabbing boards, and going for clean up baskets. Diop is a talented big that also sees the floor well and is not afraid to take chances. He got a couple of assists, finished over the top with hook shots, was fouled on his way to the rim, and also got the game-winning block. Diop is improving, and by junior year will be a force to reckon with.
Grant Featherston Grant Featherston 6'5" | PF Air Academy | 2023 State CO – Suns
Featherston is not a player that wows you with huge numbers, but what he does on the floor opens up teammates for open baskets and is also a player that you have to watch, or he can go off himself. Featherston funs the floor well and fills the lanes correctly. When he does get the ball, he makes quick decisions to attack and has solid size to make plays happen around him. He finished with an and-1 and showed off solid defense. He is a young player to watch.
Ladavion King – Blazers
King is the youngest player in the event as he is a middle schooler, but with the way that he plays, you would not know that as he plays well above his age. This was the best game for the youngster as he scored in bunches. King was working hard without the ball and cleaning up rebounds for easy baskets. He is also very strong for his age, so he can physically hang with the older guys and has good size for a 2024 kid at 6’0. With the ball, he is confident and not to be denied as he gets to his spots and finishes. I am eager to see where he ends up.
Archer VanSickle Archer VanSickle 6'4" | CG Valor Christian | 2023 State CO – Kings
Van Sickle got off to a slow start, but then when he got himself going, it was lights out for him. Archer scored a couple of baskets in the first half, but he really came on in the second half and is a stat stuffer that affects the game in various ways. He is an assertive guard that is making zip passes; he is shooting the ball confidently with mid-range jumpers, stepped out and hit a couple of 3-pointers as well, and continued to get inside of the defense. Defenders could not slow him down as he keeps his dribble alive and is continuously looking to make plays for others while possessing an ability to keep the balance. His 13 points were one of the top scores in the game and is a young player that continues to show promise.
UK Onyenwere UK Onyenwere 6'6" | PF Grandview | 2023 State CO – Clippers
This was the big fellas first time playing in the games, but he was indeed a player that stood out as his presence on the court on both ends makes him an intriguing prospect. Onyenwere is a big body that is setting hard screens that defenders are having issues getting through and around. He set them consistently and played within himself as he did not fore much. He was aggressive on the boards and kept the ball high, and that allowed him to clean up the boards and be a paint beast. I will have to see more of him but liked what I saw in my first look.
