Thomas Oppold Thomas Oppold 6'3" | SG Lucy Beckham | 2023 State SC – Lucy Beckham HS (Mount Pleasant) – Lowcountry Storm 16U (pictured on the front)
Oppold confirmed to Prep Hoops that he will be playing over at the new Lucy Beckham HS which is set to open this fall. The Bengals will be coached by former Wando HS player Andrew Glover. Oppold was playing in his first event of the summer he told Prep Hoops today along with playing up a age group on the 16U team.
Oppold came out on fire today in a opening round game by scoring 23 points on 4 made three pointers. Oppold was ready to receive the ball and was in shot formation after popping off some screens. Oppold doesn’t look to force shots on the floor and finds his spots to be successful.
Calvin Davinroy Calvin Davinroy 6'3" | SF Oceanside Collegiate | 2023 State SC – Wando HS (Mount Pleasant) – Lowcountry Storm 15U
Davinroy was just a model of consistency today for his squad. Davinroy has a great nose for the ball and making plays from the backcourt. Davinroy has gotten a little better every time I see him play this summer. Davinroy really kept his teammates together with his crisp passing and leadership on the floor. Davinroy was able to connect around the rim more today and finish strong at the basket.
Justin Coleman Justin Coleman 6'5" | PF Oceanside Collegiate | 2023 State SC – Oceanside Collegiate (Mount Pleasant) – Lowcountry Storm 15U
Coleman is the glue guy to this squad and brings a toughness to the floor at times. Coleman just does a solid job around the paint but today did step-out and knockdown a few jumpers on the perimeter.
Will Regan and Rhett Norris Rhett Norris 5'10" | PG Wando | 2023 State SC – Wando HS – Lowcountry Storm 15U
Regan and Norris along with the rest of this squad really ENJOYS PLAYING TOGETHER. Regan came up big at times with understanding on doing the little things.
Norris spends most of the game diving on the floor for lose balls and just setting up his teammates. Norris is constant hustle mode while on the floor.
Regan and Norris along with the rest of this group could be the leader on any given night. These guys have really come together this summer during these tough times and Covid-19 and really made the most of the Grassroots Circuit.
The future of basketball in the Mount Pleasant area looks to be good down the road for all 3 schools. Congrats to Storm Head Coach Lance Norris on a great job he’s doing with this young group of men.
Quick Note – Riley Allenspach (2023) – Not in attendance today here with Lowcountry Storm 15U has enrolled at Lake Norman Christian (NC) for next season according to Storm Head Coach Lance Norris. Allenspach played this past season out in Washington State. Allenspach will join his cousin AJ now at Lake Norman Christian this fall. AJ previously attended Hillcrest HS (Simpsonville) before moving over this summer. AJ recently committed to Army West Point for basketball.
** These 3 schools all in Mount Pleasant will have play at 3 different levels this year. Wando HS Class 5A – once the biggest school in the state, Lucy Beckham – Opening this fall – starting off in Class 4A and Oceanside College – Class 2A. The Mount Pleasant area just keeps on growing and growing in my 17 years here in the Palmetto State.
