Many players have shown enough simply on tape and colleges are watching now more than ever as they navigate these untested waters.
Here is a look at some of the summer stock risers from Florida in the 2022 class.
Dariq Whitehead Dariq Whitehead 6'5" | SF Montverde Academy | 2022 State #5 Nation FL | 6-6 | Montverde/Team Durant
One of the top athletes in the entire country, Whitehead has picked up a slew of offers here this summer. Iona, FSU, Oregon, UF, NC State, Auburn, Texas, Georgia, Maryland, Memphis, Texas A&M and Howard have all offered since June. A super quick and strong athlete, Whitehead attacks the basket with confidence and versatility. If he continues to mature as a point man and shooter, this will be one scary player. Whitehead is always in the gym and is a student of the game. He has endless upside.
Jaylen Martin | 6-6 | Florida High/Showtime Ballers
Perhaps one of the most dynamic guards I’ve seen this summer, Martin is peaking at the right time. A surefire leader and vocal prospect, he was really good last summer and as a sophomore. He clearly is taking that next step forward and it is on full display. Ole Miss offered earlier this month while Georgetown, TCU, USF, Arkansas Little Rock and Stetson have extended offers prior to that. Martin is a kid who deserves much more attention and he is the same scoring point guard each time he suits up.
Ven-Allen Lubin Ven-Allen Lubin 6'7" | PF Orlando Christian Prep | 2022 State #144 Nation FL | 6-6 | Orlando Christian Prep/Team Parsons
Stetson offered Lubin in late June with Alabama, St. John’s, Iowa State, UF and USF offering last year. He is an athletic forward who plays bigger than his frame. He is all business on the floor and is never rattled. Lubin can really get going inside and his mixture of burst and pure strength/toughness helps him score in flurries. He can certainly shoot the mid-range when needed but he knows how to generate points, draw contact inside and grab rebounds. Lubin will continue to add muscle, expand his game and be well on the radar.
CJ Hawkins CJ Hawkins 6'7" | SF Berkeley Prep | 2022 State FL | 6-7 | Berkeley Prep/Judah Nation
Labeling Hawkins a power forward is simply not accurate. Yes, he is a big body who is strong and not afraid to back down from anyone, but he is very talented with the ball in his hands. Hawkins can lead the break on his own, push the tempo and get to the rim often. He’s really turning the corner from a season ago and you can see it in his consistent play for Judah Nation this summer. Hawkins earned his first two offers from Western Michigan and IUPUI this summer.
Brice Sensabaugh Brice Sensabaugh 6'6" | PF Lake Highland Prep | 2022 State #104 Nation FL | 6-6 | Lake Highland Prep/E1T1
Shooting at a high clip is something Sensabaugh can do. He transformed his body and took what was a big frame into a muscular one and excelled at a high level for state semifinalist Lake Highland Prep. Sensabaugh can guard any position on the floor, has solid ballhandling skills and plays hard on both ends. He earned offers from USF and Stetson in June and held a SMU offer prior. For E1T1, he continues to shine this summer and he is a truly hard working and versatile guard.
