Jordan McKay Jordan McKay 6'3" | SF Liberty | 2022 State CO – Liberty
This was the best that I have seen McKay play, and he made it a point to show off his full game. McKay had an explosive first half as he showcased the ability to do it all. He had 13 points in the first half as he used his large frame to bang inside with reverse finishes, and-1 through contact makes and also stepped out and hit 3-pointers. In the second half, he hit a 3-pointer to give him 16 points in the game on a poke and steal pull-up. He got it done on defense, with a weakside block, and also protected the paint. An offensively aggressive McKay is hard to contain, and at times he does not look to score the ball although it comes easy. That was not the case for day 2.
Connor Yslas – Cherokee Trail
Yslas was a player that we had not seen heading into the event, but now after two solid days, he is a player to put on the radar and circle down. He is a two-way player that does not give up on plays and plays extremely hard. He was able to get himself on the board in the first game with a couple of big plays on defense, including a recorder block, and followed that up with more plays on defense. Yslas is a wing with good size that can alter the game on both ends of the floor. He is not a flashy scorer, but he works so hard on defense and rebounding that he rewards himself on offense.
Langston Reynolds Langston Reynolds 6'4" | CG Colorado Prep | 2022 State #172 Nation CO — Denver East
This was a game that Reynolds got up for as he played with an extra bounce in this one. This game was one of the high-scoring affairs on the day that was not short of highlight plays. There were big stats in the game, and Reynolds was a player that showed off his athleticism. He had back-to-back dunks to get him started and continued to be dangerous in the open court from there. Reynolds is an in your face defender that forces turnovers in the open court and then attacks the rim so hard that it’s either an uncontested finish at the rim or highlight dunk, and there was plenty of those. Reynolds had 24 points in the game, which was one of the high scores on the day, but he is also a guard that is capable of passing, which opens things up for him. Reynolds is a two-way player that gets after it, and as long as he continues to play with this type of aggression, he will remain one of the toughest players to defend in the state.
Luke Williams Luke Williams 5'9" | CG Dsst Green Valley | 2022 State CO –DSST GVR High School
Williams is a small guard with a big game. Williams is confident with the ball in his hands as he is coming off screens, hits the roll man, and also is just as capable of going and finishing amongst the trees. What helps him is he can get wherever he wants on the court. On day two, he clearly felt like scoring more as he put himself and teammates in more opportunities around the rim. Williams pushed the pace, got the team going, and also held his own defensively. He is a player to watch as he can score with the best of them.
KK Stroter KK Stroter 6'4" | PF Rangeview | 2022 State CO – Rangeview
Stroter continues to standout in games, and this was a big scoring day for him. This was my first time seeing him in a different role as a perimeter player that got out on the break and showcased his athleticism. He as leaking out for dunks and had multiple in the game. He was running out for outlet passes and finishing. He also moved without the ball and was an inside and out threat that grabs loose balls and also plays the passing lanes. He had 16 points on the day and is a player that his high school coach told us to look out for, he is breaking out slowly.
Kijuan Thompson Kijuan Thompson 5'9" | PG George Washington | 2022 State CO – George Washington
Thompson remains one of the toughest players in the state pound for pound. His defensive intensity and lightning speed make it difficult for opposing guards to gauge how to defend him as well as get by him. He is always moving, he picks up full court, and he controls the tempo on that end of the floor. Thompson had contagious defense in a showcase setting, and it gave his team multiple stops. He is not afraid to take chances with passes, gets out in the open court, and is a willing passer and plays with heart. You have to love that.
