Brennan Rigsby – Wasatch Academy
Rigsby had himself a day and looked more like his regular self. He took over in his game as he went on a mini-run of his own. What stands out about Rigsby is he adds a bit of everything to the table. On Day 1, it was the fast break dunking that stood out, and in this game, he made it a point to show off the rest of his game. Rigsby knocked down his 3-point shots and also got to his spots on offense for easy baskets. Rigsby finished with 15 points in the game and had the highlight play of the day with a steal and dunk where he was way above the basket. He is undoubtedly one of the most athletic players and is willing to show up anywhere to play, which you have to love—a solid day for him.
Ty Robinson Ty Robinson 6'5" | SF Eaglecrest | 2021 State CO – Eaglecrest
Robinson is a silky smooth finisher that gets to his spots on the floor for easy baskets. Robinson is never sped up and plays at his own pace. His nonchalant game keeps defenses guessing as he can finish both inside and out. On Day 2, he made it a point to be inside. He started the game out with a dunk, and he also had a couple of crafty finishes around the rim, altered a couple of shots on defense, and showcased the ability to defend multiple positions. When he is showcasing a balanced game, he is a tough player to defend.
Brayden Carter Brayden Carter 6'8" | PF Seiling Ok | 2021 State CO – Mullen
Carter is a complementary piece that I feel can play well no matter who he is playing with because he plays winning basketball. He has smart-reads on the court and fills in gaps. He also has excellent footwork on the block and soft touch around the rim as well. He finished at the rim for a couple of easy finishes, but he also made it a point to get out on the break. Carter had three dunks in the game and also went for a windmill finish as well. Carter’s team is arguably the best team in the league as they have balance, but he is the man in the middle that is finishing down low and giving his teammates a big target for finishes.
Taeshaud Johnson Taeshaud Johnson 6'1" | PG Colorado Prep | 2021 CO – Dakota Ridge
This was the best I have seen Jackson play and it was great to see him play more off of the ball and not at the lead guard spot as he had some launch-spot finishes and getting it from the wing provided more scoring opportunities when he is catching it in downhill situations as opposed to setting the offense. Jackson finished above the rim, and once he makes up his mind to get to a spot, there is nothing that you can do. Jackson had blow by finishes, and-1’s and also players just refused to go up with him once he got inside. On top of that, Jackson is an elite defender that plays the passing lanes and is a load to handle down low as he is not easily backed down. To top that off, Jackson rebounds the ball exceptionally well. I liked what I saw from Taeshaud.and hopefully, he steps more into this role as it is the perfect fit for him and what he will most likely be at the next level.
Skylar Wilson Skylar Wilson 6'7" | PF Colorado Prep | 2021 CO – Eaglecrest
Wilson had himself one of those explosion games that we have been waiting for. He got himself going early and did not look back. Wilson had 13 points in the first half as he hit a couple of 3-pointers, and then from there, he got out on the break and put on a show. Wilson is one of the state’s better athletes, and in the open court, it is evident. There was a balanced game of jumpers and fast-break finishes, and he was one of the leading scorers on the day with 21 points in the game. Let’s see if he builds off of a day like this and keeps it going.
Amondo Miller Amondo Miller 6'6" | CG Valor Christian | 2021 State CO – Valor Christian
Miller was one of the most impressive players on the day, which is shocking because it came in a loss. Miller remains one of the most difficult players to slow down once his mind is made up as not many players attack the way that he does. Miller got himself started with a fast-break dunk and showed off his size. He also hit multiple 3-pointers in the game, and when those are falling, he is that much more dangerous. Miller plays with complete control, is an excellent inside-finisher and his and-1 finishes also kept his team in it.
