Prep Hoops took a drive to the Upstate of South Carolina and watched the Big Shots Rock the Rock yesterday. The event is being held at the brand new Rock Hill Sports & Event Center in downtown Rock Hill, SC. The event consisted of over 140 teams from mostly the Carolinas and Virginia area. Lets take a look at some 2021 players from the Mountaineer State who are currently playing in the event.

Jaelin JohnsonJaelinJohnson6'5" | SFFairmont Senior | 2021StateWV - Fairmont HS - WV Togs (pictured on the front)

Johnson was great on the opening day with his play. Prep Hoops caught him in his opener vs Big Shots SC Premier in which he scored 25 points (Unofficial scoring). Johnson has great body control taking the ball to the rack. Johnson finished with his left-hand and dropped a few floaters in the lane. Johnson was passive at times to shoot the ball on the perimeter but sure did like stalking the baseline. Johnson does all of his work attacking the basket. Johnson scored 29 points in the nightcap vs 24 Elite by only hitting one jump shot in the game.

Prep Hoops saw Nguer back in early August playing in Myrtle Beach, SC with the West Virginia Generals. Nguer scored just 5 points (unofficial) has the ability to challenge and alter shots on the defensive end of the floor. Nguer originally from Senegal, Africa moved very well from block to block all day long. Nguer can really run the floor well and has great length. Nguer is more polished on the defensive end of the floor right now than offensively.  Joseph UdohJosephUdoh6'9" | PFSissonville | 2021StateWV - Nitro HS - WV Togs  Udoh recently decided to transfer over to Nitro HS for next season after playing at Sissonville HS this past year. Udoh is very quick off the floor with a UNREAL wingspan. Udoh looks to challenge a lot of shots while playing the game on constant movement. Udoh is very very versatile and can defend smaller players on the floor. Udoh utilized a nice little jump-hook a few times today. Udoh averaged 15.6 ppg and 10.4 rebounds last season at Sissonville HS.  DaiMarquis Brooks - Capital HS (Charleston) - WV Togs  Brooks 6’6 is a bit of a TWEENER on the floor with his play. Brooks played in the post at times and out on the perimeter. Brooks was able to connect on three pointers. Brooks plays wide receiver on the football team. Brooks started off his career at Hurricane HS. Carson PoffenbergerCarsonPoffenberger6'7" | PFMorgantown | 2021StateWV - Morgantown HS - Big Shots Elite WV 2021  Poffenberger just really brings a lunch pale to work at times with his aggressive play around the paint. Poffenberger is very efficient in the paint in drawing contact and just playing a blue collar mentality of basketball. Poffenberger was able to score today on put-backs and just effort points. Poffenberger really rebounded the ball well out of his area.
