Everyone is just hopeful that it could happen.
There are only a handful of players in the state of Tennessee that have the luxury of just working out and being contacted by college coaches. For a lot of prospects in the 2021 class, a regular season is very important. It’s a need and a want.
Without a regular season, the unseen prospects will have to go the prep route or hope a college program will take a chance on them.
Both options are very risky, considering every state is dealing with the effects of Covid-19.
This series will continue, with part three coming on Monday.
Here are five more prospects that could benefit from a regular season:
Taki Walker, Fayette Ware: Walker plays hard on both ends of the floor. He plays with passion. That’s Walker’s strongest attribute. He has yet to pick up an offer from a college program. Walker is a vocal leader who isn’t afraid to get on his teammates. He knows how to run an offense. Walker is unselfish and just wants to win. Any college coach would want that in his point guard.
Dylan Woods, MAHS: Woods would be a solid role player for a college program. He would instantly ignite spark off the bench with his energy. Woods rebounds the ball and likes to throw down monster dunks on the break. A consistent mid-range jump shot would help him immensely. Woods is a 6-foot-5 wing with long arms. He’s not a bad defender, either. Woods is another kid a college coach will have to gain trust in to bring into his program for four years.
Jensen Linton, Eagleville: If it wasn’t for injuries, Linton would have college offers right now. He’s working in the gym, so he can have a special senior season. The 6-5 wing just needs a chance. Linton’s offensive game is overlooked. He can flat out score.
Avionne Suttle, Overton: It has been hard for people to see how good Suttle can be since he hasn’t been at one school through his high school basketball career. If everything goes right, he will finish his journey at Overton High School. Suttle can be a lockdown defender. He always looks to guard the other team’s best guard. To be only 5-10, he has bounce. Suttle has shown the ability to dunk with one hand on the break. He has the tools that a lot of people haven’t seen yet.
Adam Barbieri, St. Benedict: Barbieri has been receiving some college interest over the summer. The 6-0 guard is very patient, takes a lot of great shots and has solid court vision. There’s enough footage on Barbieri for a college coach or two to offer him, I think.
