But there were so many great guards at the tournament at Kansas City that the kids from Kansas deserve a second look.
Here is another handful of top Kansas guards to compete in the 15U Division of The Finale (in alphabetical order and with club and high school listed):
Jack Bachelor Jack Bachelor 6'0" | CG Washburn Rural | 2023 State KS , SSA Black 15U, Washburn Rural:
Bachelor saw some key minutes for the Junior Blues varsity last year as a freshman. And that was no run of the mill team – it was ranked in the top teams in the state all season. Bachelor is a shooter, first and foremost. But he can put the ball on the floor in traffic and make things happen too.
Pearse Bowen, Kansas 94×50 Elite 15U, Washburn Rural:
Bowen is another rising sophomore at Washburn Rural who will probably see some action next season. He’s a deft ball handler, able to break down a defender, penetrate the lane and make good things happen. He can score on the move, and he can shoot it from deep. He doesn’t need the ball in his hands – he can move without the ball to get open for scoring opportunities. He’s quick and a hustler, meaning he can make a difference at the defensive end.
Jake Muller, SSA Black 15U, Hayden:
The 6-foot Muller got some action with the Hayden varsity last year and will probably see a lot more due to graduation losses. He can shoot it from the perimeter and is a good athlete. He facilitates the offense from the perimeter and works hard on defense.
Dakota Marshall, Team KC – Kerr 15U, Olathe East:
A quick athlete who has ability to handle the ball, Marshall can break through a defense to create scoring opportunities for himself and others. His spin dribble in traffic and ability to slice through gaps are impressive. He has a nice touch, particularly at the free throw line. On defense, he’s a ball hawk and a heady player
Eli Oliver Eli Oliver 6'2" | SG Wabaunsee | 2023 State KS , SSA White 15U, Wabaunsee:
Younger brother of standout Cade Oliver, Eli got playing time as a freshman and is known as a top shooter for Wabaunsee. At 5-foot-11, Oliver is a lean slasher with nice ball handling skills. With lots of good guards around him this summer, Oliver can play off the ball, find open shots and defend. He locks up an opponent and gets in the passing lane.
