Why: Gardner is an absolute mad bomber from downtown. Gardner finished near the top of the state leaderboards in 3 pointers made. He also shoots it consistently and efficiently and has a high basketball IQ.
Ihsan Duncan Ihsan Duncan 6'3" | CG Hampton | 2022 State VA – 6’1 CG/2022
Why: Ihsan Duncan Ihsan Duncan 6'3" | CG Hampton | 2022 State VA is an old school guard. At 6’1, Duncan is a strong guard who gets in the paint and wreaks havoc. Duncan plays with a bit of nasty, inspiring confidence in his teammates.
Kendon Peebles Kendon Peebles 6'4" | SF Catholic | 2022 State VA – 6’4 SG/2022
Why: Kendon Peebles Kendon Peebles 6'4" | SF Catholic | 2022 State VA is a long, athletic wing who has the chance to develop in a great system next season. Peebles plays hard on both ends, and with his attributes I could easily see Peebles averaging 2+ steals and 2+ blocks next season.
Josiah Rickards- 6’3 CG/2023
Why: Josiah Rickards is a smooth, tall combo guard who has perhaps the best chance of breaking out this season. At 6’3, Rickards has a slick handle and explosiveness. I saw Rickards put the ball between his legs for a dunk at a recent workout. The boy is special.
Greg Melvin Greg Melvin 6'7" | PF Cape Henry | 2022 State VA – 6’7 F/2022
Greg Melvin Greg Melvin 6'7" | PF Cape Henry | 2022 State VA was already a fringe star coming into this season. He will not be taking anyone by suprise anymore. Melvin is a powerful forward who combines his size and athleticism to give some of the best teams in the state fits in the paint. Melvin also showed some more finesse later in the season, which would be bad news for the area.
Chris Brown Chris Brown 6'3" | SG Peninsula Catholic | 2022 VA – 6’4 CG/2022
Why: Chris Brown Chris Brown 6'3" | SG Peninsula Catholic | 2022 VA is a recent edition to the 2022 class and he has made some noise already. A couple D1 programs have asked me about this explosive combo guard, and I have told them to look out. Brown can absolutely fly, and is a bouncy wing capable of taking over on offense.
Obi Okafor- 6’8 C/2022
Obi Okafor is one of the most physically gifted young players in the area. At 6’8 and likely growing, Okafor has already shown signs of being an elite interior defender. Okafor uses his length to alter and block shots, and he could develop into one of the best rim running bigs in the 757.
