Here are some of the forwards to watch at the Class A level:
Wyatt Enno Wyatt Enno 6'2" | SF Turtle Mountain | 2021 State ND , Turtle Mountain
Enno averaged nearly 15 points and seven rebounds as a sophomore and was on track to being one of the best players in the WDA before missing nearly his entire junior season due to a knee injury. It may have taken him a little time to knock off the rust but he’s looked terrific in AAU action this summer, flashing the multi-level scoring, playmaking and defensive ability to be an all-state level guy as a senior.
Owen Hektner Owen Hektner 6'6" | SF Fargo Davies | 2021 State ND , Fargo Davies
Hektner is going to be one of the top returning players in the EDC. How impactful he can be either in a similar role he played last year, or in a vastly different role as the main guy remains to be seen. He’s terrific at a lot of things; 3-point shooting, individual and team defense, moving without the ball. Can he take on more of a featured offensive role? Or will he continue to excel in that complementary role?
Jacksen Moni Jacksen Moni 6'9" | PF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2021 State ND , West Fargo Sheyenne
West Fargo Sheyenne figures to be one of the best teams in the state and Moni will anchor what should be an elite defense. The 6-foot-9 senior does a great job protecting the rim, rebounding his area, defending without fouling and communicating from the paint. Can he take his offensive game to the next level with more volume? Even if he doesn’t, he’ll be one of the best players in the state because of his defense.
Carter Birrenkott Carter Birrenkott 6'5" | PF West Fargo | 2021 State ND , West Fargo
Birrenkott averaged better than 11 points and nearly six rebounds as a junior, sharing the paint with Hunter Lyman Hunter Lyman 6'8" | PF West Fargo | 2020 State ND . On a team that had so little 3-point shooting and floor spacing, Birrenkott was still effective and efficient because of his strength, quickness and effort level. He’ll be heavily featured in the offense this year and the benefit of improved perimeter shooting should be significant.
Keith Levin Keith Levin 6'6" | PF Jamestown | 2021 State ND , Jamestown
Levin’s role in Jamestown’s offense might not change a whole lot – he’ll set screens, crash the glass and finish around the rim – but he should be one of the best big guys in the WDA. He’s an ox on the defensive end of the floor, arguably the best rebounder in the WDA and he should have more opportunities to score in complementary fashion. He could be a double-double guy.
