Treasure Valley Classic: 16U Preview
The Treasure Valley Classic takes place from Wednesday through Saturday and some of the top club teams in the Pacific Northwest will be in Nampa, Idaho for the event including a few squads from the state of Oregon.
Here’s a quick look at the in-state teams competing in the 16U division. Please notes that rosters are very much in flux at press time so some players may or may not be playing this week.
Oregon Prospects North – Several guys on this team are fresh off playing in Las Vegas and will be led by Lamar Washington Lamar Washington 6'4" | CG AZ Compass Prep | 2022 State #128 Nation AZ (2022 Jefferson) who really opened some eyes last weekend with his play, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt he’s the number one ranked player in the state in the Class of 2022 and worthy of more national recognition. Luke Johnson Luke Johnson 6'8" | PF Central Catholic | 2022 WV (2022 Central Catholic) also played his tail off against elite competition and will man the middle. A couple of Washingtonians in Koren Johnson (2022 Garfield) and Kahlil Singleton (2022 Fort Vancouver) will add instant offense in the backcourt and Connor Hills Connor Hills 5'6" | PG Barlow | 2022 State OR (2022 Barlow) will help out with the ball-handling duties. Max Von Arx Max Von Arx 6'5" | PF Grant | 2022 State OR (2022 Grant) and Caden Harris (2022 Summit) provide depth up front.
Oregon Prospects White – This Prospects squad will be a bit undersized but will play fast for Prospects co-director Kendall White. The strength is at guard as Bryson Metz (2022 Union) will push the pace at the point and Julian Mora Julian Mora 6'0" | PG Summit | 2022 State OR (2022 Summit) will add scoring punch as well. Look for Tri-Cities brothers Tyler Bilodeau (2022 Kamiakin) and Jacob Bilodeau (2022 Kamakin) to knock down shots, as will Clay Delp (2022 Zillah). Brooks Ferguson Brooks Ferguson 6'5" | PF West Salem | 2022 State OR (2022 Central) will fight in the paint while Ryker Wilburn (2022 Sellah) will do a little bit of everything.
International Elite – I-Elite continues to develop as a squad and recently scored a big-time win over the Iowa Barnstormers. Noah Ogoli Noah Ogoli 6'2" | CG Tualatin | 2022 State OR (2022 Tualatin) has been the star of the backcourt, providing long range shooting and scoring in addition to helping out with the playmaking along with Julius Casseus (2022 Federal Way). Guards Benjamin Cheung Benjamin Cheung 6'4" | SG Valley Catholic | 2022 State OR (2022 Valley Catholic) and Marcus Johnson Marcus Johnson 6'2" | CG Jesuit | 2022 State OR (2022 Jesuit) have had their moments this summer as has Jackson Knight Jackson Knight 6'3" | SG Sunset | 2022 State OR (2022 Sunset) and Marshall Allen (2022 Tillamook). Big men Dominic Ball (2022 Cascade) and Koa Bacci Koa Bacci 6'8" | PF Lake Oswego | 2022 State OR (2022 Lake Oswego) anchor the paint while Logan Jackson Logan Jackson 6'7" | PF Hillsboro | 2022 State OR (2022 Hillsboro), Keshav Anand Keshav Anand 6'4" | PF Westview | 2022 State OR (2022 Westview), and Skylar Schmidt (2023 Scappoose) have done yeoman’s work along the baseline.
There will also be an Oregon Prospects South team in the event.
