First Team
PG J.J. Wheat J.J. Wheat 6'0" | PG Clarksville | 2022 State TN – PSB Nashville-Dozier
Strong showing for the reigning district player of the year. Finished after contact.
G JaKobi Gillespie – BMaze Elite
Kobi scored 19 points in their closeout game down in South Carolina. Earlier in the weekend, JG scored 20 points. His handle and agility with the ball are special. While he was hardly alone, Gillespie helped his team finish 4-0.
PG Phil Dotson – Team Thad
Dotson helped stabilize the team during stretches of sloppy play. His presence on the court offered more than shooting makes.
SG Braeden Moore Braeden Moore 6'8" | PF Christ Presbyterian Academy | 2022 CA-S – Team Thad
Braeden’s development physically in the last year is miraculous. Lower body strength much improved. Arm strength improved. Mental toughness skyrocketed. Moore plays like a man now, despite merely entering his junior year of high school. Moore’s grit showed up over the weekend. Moore drew a charge! Sure, it was a phantom call, but the point is he slid his feet and toppled over like a European soccer player, then hopped up smiling. But he drew a charge! He fought for loose rebounds and, unlike a year ago, could yank the ball away from tie-ups with ease. At his height, the path of least resistance and least effort would have been to shoot all the time and hover around the arc for the rest of his days. Sure, Moore can and will be an incredible outside shooter for years to come, but he is undeniably more than a great shooter now. Credit him and his support group for investing in all aspects of his basketball maturation. The work is immediately apparent.
PG Zach Amonett Zach Amonett 6'2" | PG Pickett County | 2022 State TN – Tennessee Tigers
Averaged 16 ppg Saturday.
BONUS MEMBER
C Kel’el Ware – Team Thad
Ware lives in Arkansas, so he doesn’t technically qualify for this list. The guy is just simply destined for greatness, if he stays on his path. Both Oklahoma State and Auburn offered him after this past weekend.
