The Circuit League is on July 2nd and 3rd and will return on July 16th and 17th. Thursday night was packed with good games with elite players. Here are some of the players that stood out to me from 16U.
Savion Red Savion Red 6'1" | 195 lbs | G Grand Prairie | 2022 TX – Texas Legion Elite – G
Red was a monster on both ends of the floor and competed until the final buzzer in Texas Legion’s 77-58 loss to Drive Nation. He had multiple highlight-reel blocks and showed his extreme athleticism for the entire game. Red also showed off his finishing ability around the basket and drew multiple fouls. Red played physical defense and brought energy.
Noah Shelby Noah Shelby 6'2" | PG Greenhill | 2022 State #139 Nation TX – Drive Nation – G
Noah Shelby Noah Shelby 6'2" | PG Greenhill | 2022 State #139 Nation TX is one of the best guards in DFW and had a great outing in Drive Nation’s first game of the summer. Shelby finished with 16 points and knocked down four three-pointers. His range stretches multiple feet behind the three-point line as he knocked down two of his four three’s from NBA range.
Lee Dort Lee Dort 6'10" | C Greenhill School | 2022 State #67 Nation TX – Drive Nation – F
Dort is one of the most dominant bigs in the country and returned to his dominance on Friday night. Dort was all over the glass on both ends of the floor and often turned his offensive rebounds into points for himself. He also had multiple blocks that soared ten feet beyond the court. Dort finished with 12 points and anchored Drive Nation’s defense in their 77-58 win over Texas Legion Elite.
Rylan Griffen Rylan Griffen 6'5" | SG Richardson | 2022 State #72 Nation TX – Drive Nation – G
Griffen was a beast on both ends of the floor on Friday night and was a big reason that Drive Nation was able to beat a good Texas Legion Elite team by almost 20 points. Griffen had multiple layups in transition and also showed off his shot from downtown. On the defensive end, Griffen played hard-nosed defense and had multiple steals.
Corey Gordon Corey Gordon 6'3" | SF Putnam City West | 2022 State OK – Team Buddy Buckets – G
Corey Gordon Corey Gordon 6'3" | SF Putnam City West | 2022 State OK was all over the place in Team Buddy Buckets’ 92-23 win over Team P.U.S.H. He was crashing the offensive glass, getting on-ball and off-ball steals, and finishing around the basket. He got going early in the game and helped surge the Buddy Buckets offense.
