The COVID-19 pandemic has shortened the summer circuit, which creates less opportunities for players to compete against each other. STR Elite had a practice today, which contained a solid group of guards who should have big 2020-21 campaigns. Here are the top guards at the STR Elite practice.
Jahmir Smith Jahmir Smith 6'0" | PG Centennial Highschool | 2023 GA , 5’8 PG Holy Spirit 2023
Smith is one of the most dynamic athletes in the 2023 class as he was dunking routinely during the practice. The dual-sport star is not just a dunker as he showed off his ability to finish around the rim. Smith has a nice release on his shot and knocked down multiple shots during the practice. He sets his feet when he shoots and does not require a lot of space to get his shot off. Smith is a talented point guard who should have a big season for Holy Spirit.
Jordan Lomax Jordan Lomax 5'10" | PG Pemberton | 2022 State NJ , 5’10 PG Medford Tech 2022
Lomax is a bouncy point guard prospect as he threw down a couple dunks in practice. The 5’10 guard showed his ability to finish around the basket during the layup drills. Lomax is more than just a slasher as he knocked down several jumpers during the shooting drills. He has a nice form and sets his feet when he shoots. Lomax is a skilled guard prospect who should help Medford Tech have a good 2020-21 season.
D’Maari Brown D’Maari Brown 5'9" | PG Manchester Township | 2022 State NJ , 5’8 PG Manchester Township 2022
Brown is another bouncy guard prospect who had a strong showing at the practice. The 5’8 guard was getting over the rim throughout the session, including finishing off the practice with a dunk. Brown attacked the basket hard during the layup drills and showed an ability to finish power layups through contact. He has a clean shooting stroke as he wastes little motion in his release. Brown is an athletic guard who is ready for a bigger role at Manchester Township this season.
Jayden Lopez Jayden Lopez 5'10" | PG Atlantic Tech | 2023 State NJ , 5’10 PG Holy Spirit 2023
Smith was not the only Holy Spirit guard who stood out at the practice as Lopez had a good showing. The 5’10 guard was knocking down jumpers throughout the day and has a nice shooting stroke. Lopez moves well off the ball as he was able to set his feet and knock down shots. He performed well during the layup drills as he showed the ability to make shots around the basket. Holy Spirit has a strong 2023 duo in Smith and Lopez who should lead the Spartans in 2020-21.
Shikeith Gordon Shikeith Gordon 5'10" | PG Barnegat | 2023 NJ , 5’10 PG Barnegat 2023

Gordon knows how to attack the basket down hill and has a nice frame to finish through contact. He is more than just a slasher as he showed off a nice release on his jump shot. Gordon is one of the more under the radar prospects in the 2023 class and should be a big help to Barnegat in 2020-21.
