Programs like Lincoln Supreme and The Factory have multiple teams that compete on the regional and national levels. These programs’ second tier teams are full of skilled and interesting prospects with potential to play at the next level or be high level high school contributors. In Part 2, we look at seven 16u players from Lincoln Supreme and The Factory that prove you don’t have to be on the top team to standout.
Lincoln Supreme National 2 – 16u
Cole Murray Cole Murray 6'2" | SG Waverly | 2022 State NE
Murray is a left handed guard that can play with or without the ball and has size to play 1-3. He scrambles defensively, finished back cuts, runs the floor in transition, and is active on the glass. Murray is an unselfish distributor that drove gaps looking to kick to shooters.
Jack Hastreiter Jack Hastreiter 6'6" | PF Lincoln Pius | 2022 State NE
Hastreiter spent some time playing for both Lincoln Supreme squads on Saturday due to some missing players on the top team. The tall and agile combo forward will usually play strictly for Lincoln Supreme 16u National 2. He scored 14 points and helped his team to a win in their first game of the day with hot shooting from deep and efficient finishing at the rim. They lost their second game of the day, but Hastreiter’s talents may be better used Sunday as Lincoln Supreme 16u National 1 makes their run at the #HardWorkSzn Championship.
Quinn Johnson Quinn Johnson 6'3" | SG Loomis | 2022 State NE
Johnson came off the bench in game one and immediately hit a three pointer with no hesitation. He has a quick release, good balance coming around screens, and can score over contesting defenders. In a 73-49 win, Johnson finished with 20 points and had a stretch where he scored or assisted on four straight basket.
Team Factory Gold – 16u
Nate Wiedenfeld
Wiedenfeld is a tall wing shooter that has some ability to put the ball on the floor. He uses his length to rebound and be disruptive on defense. Offensively he made a few threes from the corners, made good outlet passes to start the break, and had vision to find streaking teammates. Wiedenfeld is skilled and has potential, but needs to be more aggressive and get stronger to play inside or improve his quickness on the wing.
Brodey Johnson
Johnson is a strong combo guard that is physical and aggressive attacking gaps in the defense. In his first game of the day, he hid behind a screen and pulled up from deep to hit a three as time expired in the first half. Johnson created great looks for himself all day, but his shot was flat at times and he needs to improve his touch around the rim.
James Gninefou James Gninefou 6'2" | SG Omaha Skutt | 2022 State NE
Gninefou is a combo guard that can hit spot up threes and has good change of direction moves to get to the basket. He isn’t the quickest defender but is long and had an emphatic block at the rim in their second game of the day. Gninefou can help as a ball handler and had stretches on Saturday where he was effective scoring from all three levels.
Nate Zuroske
Zuroske is a big post player that was able to take advantage of and dominate mismatches when he had them offensively. He fought hard for deep position and finished efficiently on post up opportunities and put backs. He has good size, but needs to stay vertical and cut down on fouls at the rim.
