Continue ReadingSan Joaquin County part of the NorCal Region has produced it’s fair share of prospects, that have shown they’re capable of playing ball at the next level. This group might not be known to those outside of the area, but they have played consistent basketball some were key factors, others were role players all contributed to their teams success throughout the season. There’s still hope they’ll get the opportunity to showcase their individual talents before summers end. All of these prospects are on Wright’s Players to Watch list.
Russell Weinbrecht 6’5 Wing, Escalon HS (Escalon, CA)
Weinbrecht a long rangy player who moves well can light it up from behind the arc 16.4 ppg. He’s comfortable playing away from the basket, and works well at finishing drives from the top of the circle with spin moves and left hand finishes. He can go inside and get a bucket when he needs one. Weinbrecht brings some versatility to his game, he capable of bringing the ball up court. He plays with effort on the defensive end boxing out and going after blocks, he led his team in rebounds with 7.3 per game.
Andre Warren Andre Warren 6'3" | CG Lincoln Stockton | 2022 State CA-N 6’2 Guard, Lincoln HS ( Stockton, CA)
Warren could be ready to wake up coaches with his game. He can play at a fast face while limiting mistakes. He’s a decent ball handler with a burst of speed in the open court, and to the basket. He sees the court well and pushes hard in transition, he makes a nice long and strong pass up the court. He was an effective player coming off the bench for a team that returns most of it’s players. He can spot up for 3’s and is tenacious on defense. He averaged 8 ppg, 4.4 rebs in 15 games for the Trojans.
Jaydn Marshall 6’1 Guard, St. Mary’s HS (Stockton, CA)
Marshall’s an athletic two sport prospect (Football) He brings a solid body and is durable, he played every game this season logging significant minutes, and bringing balance to a team that went (25-10) (8-4) and returning a good group of players. Being in this 2022 class he showed good leadership on the court, patience when it came to running half court sets. He looks like a pass first guard 3.5 assists per game, but knows when to go get his own shot, 6.7 ppg. He’s got good handles, sees the floor and delivers passes to teammates in good position to score. His active hands on defense creates turnovers. He’s a good rebounding guard with some physicality to battle bigger players on the boards. 5.3 rebs a game.
Everett Hunter 6’3 Forward, Modesto Christian HS ( Modesto, CA)
Hunter is expected to have more of an impact on this team this upcoming season. In a reserve role this season he’s shown flashes of what he’s capable, I haven’t seen him play that often, but I know he’s a solid player who contribute to any team he’s on. He’s a bit undersized for a forward at 6’3, being physical is not a problem for him, he can hold his own in the post area against bigger players on defense. Hunter’s offensive game is evolving. Improving his perimeter shooting, and handles will see his stock rise.
Mehtaj Mehrok 6’7 Manteca HS (Manteca, CA)
I’ll put Mehrok in the project category, his size and growing body in this 2022 class gives him an upside. With two full seasons of high school basketball ahead of him. Mehrok can rise if he’s willing to put in the extra work. He already has a presence on the defensive end changing shots, He has plenty of room for improvement going forward.
