With many power 5 programs actively pursuing him, he has no shortage of options to pursue at the next level. During a recent interview, Warley discussed his recruitment and goals in further detail.
PH: How have you been using your time during social distancing?
JW: “I’ve been trying to work on my body. Eat right, take care of myself. Try to get in the gym as much as I can.”
PH: What’s the most underrated part of your game right now?
JW: “I think it’s my passing. I really like to get teammates involved. That’s my first instinct. So I just really enjoy passing and that’s my favorite part of the game.”
PH: Who do you watch and maybe model your game after?
JW: “A guy I watch and model my game after plays for the OKC Thunder: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. I think he plays at a really good pace. He gets teammates involved, and can also get his if need be. But he’s really good at getting all of his teammates involved and playing at his own pace.”
PH: How has the recruitment process been for you?
JW: “It’s been a lot of fun. During quarantine, It’s been a little hectic doing a lot of Zoom calls, but it’s been a lot of fun so far.”
PH; You recently cut your list to 10 schools. Do you have one or two standouts at this point?
JW: “I don’t. It was hard to get to 10 honestly. I’m just happy I’m able to get more control of my recruitment so it’s not as hectic.”
PH: What do you look for in a school?
JW: “I’m looking for a place that fits me well. A coaching staff that will push me as a person. I want to go somewhere that I can see myself being more than just an athlete.”
PH: Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
JW: “In the NBA. As an All-Star.”
