The shifty 5-foot-11, 145-pound emerged on the scene this past season at Summit and he’s looking for even bigger things in 2020-21. His hope is playing with the Oregon Prospects this summer and fall will help him get to where he wants which includes on the radar of college coaches.
This past season with the Storm, Mora started in the backcourt and averaged 10.8 points and 3.5 assists largely in support of star guard Jacob Tompkins Jacob Tompkins 6'4" | CG Summit | 2020 State OR . “My freshman year wasn’t a great year, so I think bouncing back my second year we had a good year as a team playing together,” Mora said. “A lot of stuff ran through Jacob because he’s a great player, but I thought that I had a good year contributing to him and the rest of the team while doing my own part.”
Mora was effective knocking down open shots (hitting almost 36 percent from three) while using his quickness to penetrate and create. He’s hoping to continue improving in those aspects. “Overall I’m mostly working my three-point shot and getting to the rim,” Mora said. “And coming off ball screens because we run a lot of those, so I want to get better at that.”
Mora indicated that while he knows college coaches are getting aware of him, he’s yet to really receive any recruiting interest. He’s hopeful that will come as he would like to play at the next level. “I’d love to play D-I but whatever is best is where I’ll go,” Mora said. “I’m just looking for a good opportunity. West Coast would be nice because of family and they could be able to go to games.”
Running with the talent-laden Oregon Prospects 16U squad should give him an opportunity to shine. “I don’t know a lot of the guys (yet) but I’m getting to know them and it’s been fun,” Mora said. “I just want to compete, win, and get better.”
Mora currently ranks as the #22 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2022 rankings.
