Continue ReadingThe growth of grassroots basketball in Las Vegas, has seen several new programs emerge over the last few years. Perhaps no program has made as big of splash as Legacy Elite. In a little over a year “Coach” Juan has managed to put together a collection of talented young players. That talent rewarded him with a championship in the recent End of Quarantine Summer Event. In this article, PH takes a look at Legacy Elite.
Returners:
Niko Canencia Niko Canencia 5'7" | PG Legacy | 2023 State NV 5’7 PG 2023 (#18PHN 2023) – Canencia is a jitterbug PG. The lefty has good stop and start ability, a tight handle and a little shiftiness to his game. You can tell that the team really trusts him with the ball in his hand, and they should. He has good vision and is a terrific passer off the bounce.
Nakalya Fabello Nakalya Fabello 5'10" | PG Valley | 2023 State NV 5’10 PG 2023 (#12PHN 2023) – Fabello is a major stock risers in the c/o 2023. For a new program, LE is fortunate to have a player as talented as this on their roster. After a big freshmen season at Valley, Naka, is the heart and soul of the team, and a player who makes winning plays on both ends of the floor.
Osvaldo Biebrich Osvaldo Biebrich 6'6" | C Desert Pines | 2023 State NV 6’5 PF 2023 (#17PHN 2023) (featured image) – Biebrich is a good looking young post. A good in area rebounder “Ozz” is also an emerging rim protector. Like most young bigs, he is still developing his post game, but he can score in transition and off putbacks.
Steven Carter Steven Carter 5'10" | SG Cheyenne | 2023 State NV 5’9 SG 2023 – Carter is a shooting guard with a quick trigger. He is always shot ready and provides excellent floor spacing for the team. Shot lights out in the game I saw him play against the LV Shooters.
Chris Rodriguez 5’6 PG 2023 – Legacy Elite has a nice collection of shooters and that includes Rodriguez. He was on fire this past weekend helping the team to the title. A corner 3 specialist you can find Rodriguez shot ready, tucked away deep on the baseline.
New Additions
Dawan Williams 5’9 PG 2022 – Williams is making his first appearance with the team this summer. He should provide perimeter defense and ballhandling.
Rodney Shepherd 5’9 PG 2022 – Like Williams, Shepherd is a newcomer to the team. He will provide additional depth to a talented backcourt.
Sleepers:
Steven Ramsey Steven Ramsey 6'3" | PF Valley | 2023 State NV 6’3 PF 2023 – Ramsey passes the eye test. At 6’3 he has extremely long arms, and is a fluid runner. Right now the question is what position he plays, but he has some ball skills to play out on the wing, and soft enough hands to catch and finish down low. Development over the next 12 months will be key for him, but he certainly has the tools to be a quality player.
