The tournament features a variety of different pools which all essentially feed into a bracket for the final two days of the tournament. This specific article covers the Top 5 Standouts from both the Challenger and Championship brackets on just Saturday, July 25th. These are the athletes that stood out to me personally, and I felt had a great impact in their games today.
Montarius Delayleon – Texas Elite Texarkana – 2020 – F 6’4
This is the man that supplies the boards for his team. His vertical allows him to reach around defenders and grab major rebounds as well as the ability to get buckets off of putbacks. Montarius is also clutch on the other side of the ball with his shot blocking skills accompanying him in the paint. This guy is one to keep an eye on the rest of the summer in his future tournaments.
Donerio Davenport – Team F.O.E. Elite – 2021 – G 6’2
This kid plays like the ideal image of what you want in a bulky, tough guard. He uses his football player size to power through the paint as well as destroy weak centers. Donerio dives for every ball, and he’s the type of player to do the knitty gritty stuff for the team. Team player is just one way to describe this athlete from F.O.E. Elite.
CJ Hall – Team F.O.E. Elite – 2021 – G 6’3
A guard that plays very well alongside his F.O.E. teammates is CJ. He is a player that always looks for open teammates, and he has a slick jump shot that allows him to come up clutch for his team. This talented F.O.E. Elite team is a true contender for being the champions of this tournament thanks to players like Hall and Davenport. In a game against Texas Tarheels, CJ had 26 points, and he has had a good number of buckets per game in this entire tourney.
Will Bartoszek – Team REB – 2020 – F 6’4
The forward going to play at Hardin-Simmons University is Mr. Bartoszek. He is a tough player that knows how to get into the paint and make some noise. He proves himself to be one of the best players on Team REB in their game against Apex Elite. The forward was able to drop 16 points as well as create a dominance in the Challenger side of the bracket. Will and his team are probably one of the best combos competing in the Challenger bracket tomorrow.
Jarrod Porter – Apex Elite – 2020 – G 6’0
Jarrod is a guard that is very quick and athletic, and he was able to filter tons of points for his teammates. He was able to put up enough points as well as assists to be very close to double-doubles in different games. Porter played elite defense, and he was able to get key steals that lead to breakaway layups. Jarrod and his team are a very fun team to watch, and they truly made my weekend enjoyable in Duncanville with their energy and teamwork.
