Lakeshore Elite has joined forces with MBA (Michigan Basketball Academy) and will play under MBA Lakeshore. They will field 2 teams: MBA Lakeshore Black and MBA Lakeshore Blue. MBA Lakeshore Blue tipped off the grassroots season at the Ft. Wayne Gym Rats Summer Tuneup Days. They finished the event with a 4-0 record. The Blue squad had depth at all positions, players that can run in transition, and shooters from everywhere on the floor.
ROSTER
Adam Kroeze (2022, Holland Christian)
“Adam played meaningful minutes on varsity last year for Holland Christian. Kroeze is long, quick, and athletic. He is a very aggressive defender and a talented shooter. He plays with an extremely high motor and affects both ends of the game. Adam does not shy away from the big moments.” – Coach Overway
Bashir Neely (2022, Grand Haven)
“Bashir comes off a successful varsity season with Grand Haven. Neely is a high level athlete who can defend, get to the hoop, and shoot it. His best trait however is his competitiveness. He will not shy away from a challenge. Bashir is also a fantastic teammate.” – Coach Overway
Ben Nelson (2022, Holland Christian)
“Ben is a 6’7″ post player from Holland Christian. He is an extremely hard worker who is very young for his grade and continues to improve on a daily basis. Nelson is very strong inside, with a nice set of post moves along with being an excellent passer.” – Coach Overway
Bergen Loeprich (2022, Zeeland West)
“Bergen is a physical guard with the speed, quickness, and strength to play bigger than he is. He does everything well on the court. He is a lockdown defender with a very high motor. Loeprich consistently gets to the hoop and is an excellent passer in transition.” – Coach Overway
Blake Scheer (2022, Cedar Springs)
“Blake is the ultimate blue-collar player for Lakeland Blue. He is a tireless worker who drives opposing big men crazy with his ability to run the floor. Scheer rebounds the ball very well and plays to his strengths. Teammates love playing with him and his hard work and effort are contagious.” – Coach Overway
Drew Weenum (2022, Zeeland West)
“Drew is a guard with great length and is a very well-rounded player. He has a high basketball IQ, handles the ball well, is a good passer, and moves his feet well on defense. This shifty lefty is a gym rat who is able to consistently knock down open shots. Weenum will make you pay for leaving him open.” – Coach Overway
Jalen Overway (2022, Holland Christian)
“Jalen is an absolute load inside at 6’9”. He started on a very talented Holland Christian team as a sophomore. He uses his size and strength well to get great position inside and has a variety of post moves. He moves his feet well for his size and has a nice shooting stroke out to the 3-point line. He is a willing passer and a great teammate.” Coach Overway
Kyle Varady (2022, Rockford)
“Kyle is a true point guard and extension of the coaches on the floor. He handles it well in transition, is a very good passer who is also able to hit the open jumper. Kyle moves his feet extremely well on defense and helps to control other point guards. As Kyle gets used to his new team, he will be a huge asset to Lakeshore.” – Coach Overway
Luka Ressler (2022, Grand Rapids Catholic Central)
“Luka is a highly talented player who has battled back from injuries to be a great addition to the team. Luka is physically strong, extremely skilled, and highly competitive. He brings an attitude and presence to the team while on the floor. Watch for him in the future as we expect big things out of him.” – Coach Overway
TEAM GOALS
“Both Black and Blue share the same goals this season which are to help prepare each and every member of the team to be the best varsity basketball player he can be, as well as putting out an extremely competitive team that plays basketball the “right” way. Additionally, another goal is to help as many players as possible achieve their collegiate dreams.”
