This tournament was a fantastic showcase of all of the talent present in the midwest, many of which will receive a major uptick in recruiting! Be on the lookout for the rest of my coverage from this event!
Jaxson Ruppe 2022 6’0 WI Starz Elite 16U Milton High School
Jaxson is an athletic guard who loves to get up and down the court. He is great at firing outlet passes to start the fast break and always has his head up to make the right decision to help create instant offense. He and his counterpart Aiden Schroeder make a dynamic run and gun backcourt for the Wisconsin Starz. He is great at running his lane in the full court and spaces the floor in the half-court as well. He finds weak spots in the natural flow of the offense and is a reliable shooter when he sets his feet.
Aiden Schroeder 2022 6’2 WI Starz Elite 16U Cambridge High School
Aiden is an incredible athlete who loves to run on the fast break and finish at the rim. His ability to play with tempo and utilize the fast break to his advantage makes him a tantalizing guard prospect at his ability to create instant offense. He runs his lanes well in the full court to space the floor well for his teammates and makes intelligent dives to the rim to allow him to get easy looks or pop out for open three-pointers. I would like to see more work on his pull up jumper, especially in the midrange.
Ty Creger 2022 6’1 MN Select 16U Mantey- Owatonna High School
Ty is an impressive ball-handler who is great at getting open shots off a live dribble. His confidence in his game allows him to play with swagger and strike fear into the hearts of defenders. His pull up jumper and ability to get his own shot off was incredibly impressive but I would like to see more confidence in his ability to get downhill. Once he gains more strength and confidence in utilizing both hands around the rim, he will become an even more effective player. With the amount of touches he had on the ball, I would like to see more work in setting up his teammates with more accurate passes to allow them to get shots up.
Brady Helbing 2022 5’10 Wisconsin Crusaders 16U Beaver Dam High School
Brady is an athletic guard whose passing ability and ability to initiate offense for his teammates was incredibly impressive. At times he was the smallest player on the court, but his energy and ability to put the defense on skates opened the floor for his team. He is great at driving and getting deep into the paint and making unique wrap-around passes behind defenders for easy looks as well as crisp passes to set up his shooters. I was tremendously impressed by his ability to finish at the rim, even against bigger competition.
